Second Breakfast, Smooth Travels and Home for The Winter.

Our Location today is La Posa South L.T.V.A., Quartzsite, Arizona, U.S.A.

For a pretravel night Kathy slept like a rock the entire night. I managed to fall asleep and stay that way until around 5:30 when I started watching the clock for the next hour. I just couldn’t lay there any longer and started opening only the Curbside Window Shades. I thought that maybe with it being so early in the day I might have a chance to get On-Line. The only thing I was able to connect to before being completely blocked was the Congress weather forecast for the day.
AZ 71
Kathy was up by 7:30 because she suddenly missed my presence in the bed and it dawned on her that we were back on the road today. This was an early breakfast but we didn’t mind. After eating we both tried unsuccessfully one last time to get On-Line. We both ended up playing a couple of puzzles until we’d finished drinking our Coffee/Tea

At that point while Kathy got herself ready to go while I packed away our Computers. When she came downstairs to wash the Dishes and start putting the kitchen in travel mode I was upstairs getting myself ready as well closing up the CPAPs
AZ 60
When I headed outside I was on the shady side of the Trailer and was glad to have my Jacket on. On the sunny side I nearly broke into a sweat. Kathy soon experienced the same sensations when she came outside bringing with her the few things she wanted in the truck. It was 10:30 when we were pulling out of Site 57 at North Ranch.

Having researched the quickest route to our destination we turned the Truck in the direction of Congress. Kathy also set up the GPS on Mute just to see if it would give the same directions. Since it was only 4 Miles up AZ 89 to AZ 71 which runs through Congress. I hate setting up camp when I’m hungry so I suggested we make one last stop at Nichols West for an early lunch which Kathy happily agreed.

We parked across AZ 71 like we had seen other RVers do on our previous visits. At 11:00 they were still serving Breakfast and since you can have it for any meal it was perfect. We both had what we wanted and it cost less then eating at a Denny’s. That meal would definitely hold us over until supper. When we arrived, we were the only RV but when we left there were Three others around us.
La Posa South, LTVA, Quartzsite.
It was slightly after 12:00 when we got back on AZ 71 passing many RVs out boondocking on the barren landscape of the Desert and only crossing a couple of small communities. When we made our turn onto AZ 60 it was almost flat for the entire distance with a greater number of small communities that have popped up around the Twenty or more RV Parks that have sprung up to cater to the Wintering Snowbirds. As we passed a few of them Kathy remarked that “They’re crammed in like Sardines” and in the next sentence she said “I’ll take the desert any day” and I have to agree with her.

The best part was when we merged onto I-10 heading west. We remembered how we felt traveling that same section of highway last December 1st for the very first time. We had heard so much about this area that we just had to make the trip. In just over 11 Miles we exited onto Mainstreet East in the town of Quartzsite. We were surprised to see a greater number of RV Dealers already setting up shop to sell their wares. When we turned onto AZ 95 heading south towards Yuma we both started to relax.

When we turned into La Posa South LTVA Kathy just said “We’re Home”. Going in to register Carrol who has been working as a Camphost for nearly twenty years was quick to recognize that this was not our first time here. After paying for our Permit she walked us out to install our Stickers leaving the new volunteer to do more paper work. We’ve been invited back to see her new kitten.

We immediately noticed a new Pit Toilet not far from the office and the road across the Wash that passes the Pavilion where the 2018 BloggerFest will take place on January 27th. We were also surprised to see a lot of more personal Sleeping Tents set up and one was in the area where George and Suzie from the blog Our Awesome Travels likes to set up. Our favourite spot was open so that’s where we parked. Looking across the road at the North American Map someone is parked within feet of it. Friends we made last winter Wayne and Sue from Washington state were also setting up. After we had Unhooked, Leveled and Spread the slides we walked over and spent the next hour catching up on everything we’ve all been doing. It was 4:30 when we headed back Home to finish setting up.

Kathy started making supper since it was over five hours since we had eaten. She served some of the Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup she made the other day along with a Grilled Cheese Sandwich and another Mixed Berry Sponge Cupcakes for dessert.

As soon as I’d finished eating I went outside for two reasons. I wanted to raise and clean the Solar Panels but had to use a Socket on two because they have been down since we went back to McGregor last spring and were beyond tight. The second reason was the Sun Setting over the Mountains. We just don’t get these kinds of Sunsets back in McGregor. Our total towing distance for today was 100.5 Miles. 2. Now the fun begins.
I see you have six solar panels. If you would not mind would you show and explain what kind of charge controller you are using.
