Our Location today is La Posa South
L.T.V.A., Quartzsite, Arizona, U.S.A.
Even sleeping in until 7:30
this morning I still managed to get a few pictures before the Sun actually came over the mountains to
our east. Sensing that I was no longer in bed Kathy was up by 8:00. We had a
number of things that we wanted to do today but The Weather Network was forecasting another day with Wind Gusts out of the North that would be exceeding the 30 MPH & that would cause another
dust storm.
We got caught up on our
morning reading quite quickly because we wanted to head into town. Part of the Amazon
order that we received yesterday was Kathy’s new TracFone to replace the one that
connected to the AT&T Towers with one that connects to the Verizon Network.
It was strange that we had no problem last winter but since we are back this fall
it will not connect.
Before stepping out the
door I sat at the table with a Magnifying
Glass and copied all the Numbers that
could be found on the Phone, Battery as well as the SIM Card. Even with the use of the Magnifying Glass it was a difficult
task that took nearly an hour to accomplish.
Something interesting about this old Land Rover. |
We thought that a good
place to activate the Phone would be
from the McDonalds
not far from the Cell Tower
itself. We thought that we could order a lite lunch and sit inside out of the
wind while getting the service transferred from the Old to the New TracFone. We soon realized that in Quartzsite
the McDonalds is a constant buzz of activity
and far from quiet. We spent the next hour outside in the Truck in the Parking Lot
working with the techs from TracFone. The reason it took so long is there
was One Number on the SIM Card that was barely visible, even
with the Magnifying Glass that they
needed. Not the more visible seventeen-digit number that I had copied. Luckily,
we carry another Magnifying Glass
and Pocket Knife in the Glove Box to
help remove the sim card. Once all that was completed we headed back for Home.
Stopping at La Posa South
LTVA Office I tried to get
information about reserving the Pavilion for the upcoming 4th
Annual Blogger-Fest that will be taking place on January 27 2018. The good folks at the office are all volunteers so
the best they could do was to give me a Phone
Number to call at the Arizona BLM/LTVA
Office. Other then that they said it was normally on a “First Come, First Served Basis”.
Back at the Trailer the first thing I needed to do
was to charge both Kathy’s New Phone
and Mine. With all the talking and On/Off that happened the Batteries were really drained. We were still being rocked around inside by
the 34 MPH Wind Gusts as well as
tasting the Dust so we decided we
could do better.
After gathering our Shopping Lists we were soon headed to Parker.
We only saw about Six Tumbleweeds
the entire trip. Parker’s temperature
was a bit warmer with slightly less wind. We would spend the next Two Hours gathering Christmas Gifts.
Kathy would later say there may be another Gift or Two and our
2018 Shopping
will be complete. We even left the
store with a few Groceries.
It was nearly 5:00 so we
went over to Taco
Bell for our supper and be Home shortly
after 6:00. With tonight’s Temperature
dropping to the Freezing Mark we’ve
had to cycle the furnace a couple of times this evening. There should be very
little wind tomorrow so we’ll be trying to catch up on our projects. Thanks for following along, feel free to
leave a comment and click on the pictures to enlarge them. Be Safe and Enjoy!
It’s about time.
Krackers
You know you're getting old when
you can eat dinner at 4 P.M.
We had another windy day ride, also. Hopefully, it will calm down by tomorrow for all of us.
