Funny Feeling, Making Tracks and Cheaper Fuel.

Our Location today is Tulsa, Oklahoma, U.S.A.

Even though we managed to sleep without our heavy Bedcover last night it was still cool enough that we kept ourselves Comfy staying under the remaining sheets. It was after 7:30 CST this morning when we finally woke up having only heard a few loud engines moving about through the night. As soon as we were dressed we finished securing the trailer to travel and put our pills in one of the smaller containers so Kathy would have them in her purse.

We both decided to have something different for breakfast not wanting to wear out the chance of having something different for a change. The best part was having our Travel Mugs filled with Coffee all covered under the cost of Breakfast. 

Before 10:00

Back at the trailer we both took care of the other things that had to be done before even moving over to the RV Fuel Islands which were empty when we arrived but by the time I collected our Receipt there was a lineup that had formed to the road. 

Before Noon

We were back on I-44 Westbound before 9:30 soon leaving Sullivan, Missouri behind. We were enjoying the cool but sunny travel weather. As mentioned yesterday that we were trying to get away from the weather we were getting back in McGregor. It was less then Two Hours down the road that the sky clouded over and we thought we were going to get Rain like yesterday.

One thing I’ve noticed that most of the Rest Areas in Missouri have been closed as a way of cutting cost. What they did with some was to only partially close part of the parking area, replace the large buildings with Outhouses and rename them as Truckers Rest Areas. That doesn’t stop a lot of people because when you’ve got to go, you’ve got to go.

After having driven for nearly Three Hours we stopped at Cracker Barrel in Springfield, Missouri. Again the locals here park their Little Compact Cars scattered in the areas designated for Bus/RV Parking that meant we had to wiggle ourselves along a curb with barely enough room for us to fit. Since this was Friday Kathy enjoyed their Trout Dinner while I savoured their Grilled Spicy Catfish.

We found another Flying J up the road to top off our Fuel and to remove the collection of Bugs from our Windshield before going further down the road. 

Before we knew it we were crossing into Oklahoma thinking it strange that there was no sign welcoming us to this state. we also did not realize before hand that I-44 turns into a Toll Road as it cuts through the Cherokee Indian Reserve. That section of roadway was the smoothest that we’ve been on since we crossed into the US. Part of the cost of the Toll was recovered when we stopped for Diesel at the QuikTrip gas station on the east side of Tulsa where the cost was Fifty-Cents Cheaper per Gallon than we’ve paid at any of the Pilot/Flying J stations so far on this trip.

Since there was no room to park for the night we basically drove to the west side of Tulsa where we stopped at the Flying J for the night. If the Parking Lights on the Trailer had been working properly we would have pushed on. We immediately found a spot in the RV Parking Area though it doesn’t allow us to open our slides like last night. Walking around to the Truckers Parking Lot I only found Seven Empty Spots and there was already a line of Trucks coming in to park for the night.

We both seemed to feel tired after only driving 329.1 Miles today, so we had Soup with our Meals. When we got back to the Truck we gathered what we needed inside then locked ourselves in for the night. As Kathy emptied her purse she found the Pill Container with not only our Evening Pills but our Morning Pills that we forgotten to take after breakfast. (That explains why we aren’t feeling up to parr tonight.)
