Our Location today is North Ranch, Congress,
Arizona, U.S.A.
Waking up to 55 F (13 C) temperatures at 7:15 MST
this morning only took a few moments after getting out from under the
covers to be totally awake. Once the Window
Shades were all raised there was no need to have any lights on as the Sun
was making it’s first appearance of the day. I managed to have most of my
morning reading finished on the Computer
when Kathy came downstairs just before 8:00.
We both had Chores we wanted to accomplish today
but that meant having more chores to do just so we could accomplish the first
ones. In Kathy’s case she wanted to do some cooking so things wouldn’t spoil in
the Fridge like making Apple Sauce. She’d be busy peeling them
before she could put them on the stove to cook.
My chore was to do the Laundry but since we wanted to do the Bedsheets as well I had to change the
bedding before getting to the first step. By the time that was done I needed to
go get the Shopping Cart from the Basement to put the sorted Bedsheets, Clothes and Towels into.
Kathy was now busy simmering
the Apples on the stove while
cleaning some Celery Root to cook. This
is a seasonal vegetable which normally comes out in the fall but because it’s
not so popular and people don’t know how to cook it you don’t see much of it in
the Grocery Stores.
The first impression when
most people see it they say “That’s gross”, “I’m not eating that” or “That’s
too much work”. Once it’s washed, peeled and cooked it’s one of the healthiest
snacks or side dishes you could eat. Back when we had our House someone stopped in to visit while we were preparing it for a
side dish and used all three of those expressions above. When offered a taste
of the finished product as Kathy continued cooking it she turned around to an
empty tray. The person said they couldn’t stop eating it because it tasted so
good.
Kathy’s arthritis was
bothering her hands so I quickly sliced it for her. Once it was Boiled to soften it she then Breaded and Sautéed it before very lightly salting them. They can be eaten hot
or cold, with a fork and knife or by just holding it in your fingers as if you were
eating a sliced apple. We were so busy we forgot to take pictures of anything today.
Guess what we had for lunch and there wasn’t a crumb leftover.
Kathy continued cooking
most of the afternoon while I walked over to the Park Office Building to do the
washing. Since there were extra loads of laundry today and I start late, the Sun had already set by the time I returned
with everything folded.
I have mentioned that by
reading other peoples RV Blogs it gives us ideas of places we’d
like to see first hand. Some of our local explorations were due in part to
things we had read over the years on the BlogTravel with the Bayfield Bunch. Especially during
a recent period of nearly Four Years
when Al and Kelly actually owned a house in Congress.
They were able to become very familiar with the area as they made nearly daily
explorations. Checking our Comments this
evening Al had added another few places that
he’s certain we’ll enjoy and since he’s seen our truck up close he knows we should
be able to fit. Thanks again for those comments Al we
do appreciate them and are also willing to share them with anyone who wants to
read the Comments.
We are both worn out from
the 82 F (28 C) weather we had today but the temperatures are going to slowly
cool down starting tomorrow. Once I have my chores completed we’ll be doing
some more Exploring. Thanks for following along, feel free to leave a comment and click on
the pictures to enlarge them. Be Safe and Enjoy!
It’s about time.
With no Pictures taken today
these are from our file folder.

Words of Inspiration
Give me books, fruit,
French wine and fine weather and a little music out of doors, played by someone
I do not know.
John Keats, English Poet.
We spent some time in the Tonopah area a few years ago and did take a ride up that way. Wish we would have spent more time exploring. The museum looks like a wonderful stop.
ReplyDelete82 is still a little too warm for us to head down that way, but once it starts cooling down a little more we will make our southerly migration.
ReplyDeleteYeah, got to do the chores and not let them pile up too much.
ReplyDeleteSome things never change, always laundry to do,food to cook, and left overs to clean up.
ReplyDeleteTake care, be safe,
