We Finally Know After Four Years and Who’s Attending 2018 Blogger-Fest.

Our Location today is Dead Horse Ranch State Park, Cottonwood, Arizona, U.S.A.

If we thought that we were well rested from the sleep we had on Saturday just imagine how we both felt waking up past 9:00 this morning. The best part was the temperature was more comfortable and we only needed our Housecoats to stay comfortable.

After eating the last of the English Muffins we had in stock for breakfast we took our Coffees over to the Computers. Not wishing ill to the ones we love back in Ontario but it was nice to know we had left town before the ground turned white. It was also nice to see that we are finally getting warmer temperatures then they are back home. Last winter it was not uncommon for me to see higher temperatures back home on The Weather Network then what we were getting while in the desert around Quartzsite, in Arizona. It was shortly after 10:00 before I completed my normal inside chores but there was much more that had to be done.

In order for us to be able to do our On-Line Banking and Blog Entries we needed to invest in a MiFi Hot Spot and the most practical one has been through Verizon. There have been many times I’m certain that the ears of the corporate heads must have been burning from the frustration they have caused us. The biggest problem has been everytime I try to pay our Verizon bill On-Line when our account shows it is Locked.

Listening to all the messages they that are piped into your ears while on the phone Verizon wants you to maintain your account all On-Line. Listening to the menu when you call on the phone you can actually pay your account within Five Minutes. That did more then raise the hair on the back of my neck, it probably burned the ears of the Verizon corporate heads again.

I wanted to get to the bottom of this problem so I called their Accounting and Technical Divisions and finally someone forwarded me to their supervisor Linda. She couldn’t believe the problems we were having and even tried to correct it unsuccessfully herself. She finally put me on hold to talk to a counterpart in the Technical Division

When she returned she was as shocked as I was. Written in Verizon’s own Business Operation Guidelines it states that anyone whose Home Address is outside the U.S.A. cannot use their On-Line Business Services. “???” We can use the phone but we can’t use our Computers to access our accounts. Makes you feel Discriminated Against. At least I won’t be wasting any more of my time trying to use the Computer for that account.

After having Soup and Melted Open Faced Cheese Sandwiches for lunch while Kathy did up the dishes I started sorting the Laundry. It’s a good thing we carry extra clothing with us but we were starting to run low on the essentials. It has been Fifteen Days since the last laundry day and we’ve been on the road for Thirteen of those days.

It was nearly 3:00 by the time we rolled out looking for a Laundromat. I was surprise that there was none in this park. When Kathy tried to enter the addresses into the GPS it replied the address didn’t exist. She even entered the address to the Safeway Shopping Center where a Laundromat was supposed to be located with the same result. We did it the Old-Fashioned Way. We drove down Mainstreet until we spotted the Safeway sign.

I wasn’t too thrilled when I walked in to find all the Washers were front loaders and half of them were Out-Of-Order. After getting our wash started I noticed a person emerge from behind the Service Wall with a bag of Tools. He started at one end of the row, moving along until he finally had all the machines working.

He left just before 5:00 and his counterpart came in shortly after. When I went to empty my second Dryer the Clothes were still wet. She tried saying I had set it incorrectly and was going to prove it by starting it again. When it started squealing she agreed there was a problem with her machine and refunded my money. That delayed our departure by over a Half an Hour after I moved the clothes to another Dryer

I was wearing a “T”-Shirt that had the word Canada on it and that attracted the attention of other patrons. When they asked where we were from and how we were traveling we told them. These were US Citizens traveling in their own RVs that had never heard about L.T.V.A.s. They started researching on their Cell Phones while waiting for their own laundry.

It was past 6:30 by the time we loaded our Folded Laundry in the Truck and we were really hungry by that time. Right next door was the Golden Dragon Chinese Buffet. We’ve learn not to over pile our plates or take too many trips up but just trying to sample a part of their selection made us overeat again. The Price was reasonable, the Service quick, courteous and the Food tasty, not over-seasoned. There was a steady stream of patrons coming and going while we were there. You could purchase containers that you filled as Take-Out right from the Buffet. If in the area again we know where we can eat.

Last night in her Blog Post In the Shadows Shadowmoss was wondering if anyone would be interested in attending another Blogger-Fest. We attended last year and plan to be in the area again so we said yes. This is where people that write the Blogs and those that Follow can get together for a few hours.  You don’t even have to write a Blog to attend. She’d like people to respond so she can secure the use of the Pavilion at La Posa South in Quartzsite for January 27 2018. If you think you’d like to attend leave her a comment so she’ll know how many will be attending.

Tomorrow we’ll be off hiking the countryside. Thanks for following along, feel free to leave a comment and click on the pictures to enlarge them. Be Safe and Enjoy!

  1. Nice pics! Verizon is a special company, isn't it? They are always willing to apply credits to the account for my inconvenience but I find it often takes a long time to fix any issue.

  2. I have heard of that Verizon issue from several Canadian travelers. When we were in Q last year they had to go to Blythe to pay their bill.

It doesn't look like we will be in Q in time for the Bloggerfest but if you are still there when we arrive we will look you up!

  3. I've never had a problem with Verizon, but I don't pay on THEIR site. In fact, I don't pay on any bill site. I look up online to verify the amount due, then I go to MY BANK site and send payments out.

As far as the laundromat, that's why I gladly give up space in my RV to have a stacking set of my own. I can wash any time and they are always clean!!

  4. Wonderful pictures of the painted desert.
I have to agree with the above comment. I really like having a washer/dryer in the RV.
