Now we’re back to normal around here. I slept like a log last night and Kathy was awake most of the night. Probably tonight she’ll sleep while I’m awake because it seems to work that way.
This morning after checking the old desktop phones and hearing no dial tone I knew it was time to set up the new internet connection. After reading simple to follow instructions I hooked everything up and attempted to make it work for over an hour and a half I finally unhooked it and brought it back to the sales outlet that I bought it from. After telling me to do everything that I’d already done unsucessfully they took it to a back room and after another half hour they come out with it working like a charm. Guess they didn't want to give away trade secrets.

The product I purchased only requires a power source and no phone lines and is called a Hub. We are using our home phone number the same as we did before and plug our home phones into it but it is now on the wireless system. We can bring it with us when we travel across Canada with no long distance charges and it becomes our MiFi hotspot to use in our trailer. Our children and friends can call us by simply dialing our home phone number and if they didn’t pay long distance before they won’t when they call us either.
Now for Kurt and Glenda this would not be practical because it’s a Canadian plan but while we were in Florida this winter we stopped at many Verizon stores. At one of those stores one of the salespersons tried to interest us in something very similar. While our plan automatically bumps up and down according to our data usage I don’t believe the Verizon system did that. Since I’m no expert on these things and plans are constantly changing my advice is to check it out and weigh your options wisely.
After lunch we had to pick Tyler up at school and take him to the doctors. Of course as most doctors today this one was only running an hour and a half late so by the time we were finished we stopped at Dairy Queen for a an afternoon snack. Tyler had his own Blizzard while Kathy and I shared a Banana Split. We dropped Tyler off just as the school bus was dropping off his class mates that live in the neighborhood.
Most of us have mentioned in our blogs at one time or another how friendly courteous and respectful RVers are and how they will try to help others out. The problem is others should learn to be more like RVers. I’ve mentioned how we’ve been trying to get rid of more STUFF in our lives and that Kathy has posted furniture online to sell. We have had plenty on inquiries and many who have said they want those pieces but after they make an appointment and get our address in an apartment building they just don’t show up. Other people we know that live in homes and are also selling things online are having the same problems. Years ago deals were made just by word of mouth but today many people just think they are just words and think nothing of wasting other people’s precious time.

Waiter, is there soup on the menu?
No madam, I wiped it off.
Rick, thanks for the shout out and the info on your Turbo Hub. I did look up your system and noted that it is a Canadian product through Bell Canada. I have done a small amount of research on the MIFI from Verizon since we have had Verizon Wireless service for many years. We don't have a home landline phone just our cell phones. I do know as you pointed out that with Verizon we have to choose a certain level plan for data. I have a smart phone now and I have been keeping track of my data for a while so I think we will be alright with a minimal plan. Still have to do more research. Seems like that is all I do these days to prepare. Thank you again thinking of Glenda and I and our plan to full time next year. Curt
