Noisy Day With Setbacks And Gains.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

This was another sleep in morning due to the lack of it during the normal sleeping hours. Either way I was dragging this morning but we were sitting down for breakfast by 8:30. This was a day that certain things just couldn’t wait any longer. After breakfast we both sat at the computers for a few minutes with coffees in hand to finish waking up and accomplish our morning reading. As soon as we were dressed Kathy started doing more sorting and packing while I started sorting laundry.

There was one big surprise that we were not happy about. At 9:30 the contractors started using Hammer Drills downstairs that were as loud as the Jackhammer they used last week. This time we had not been notified they were doing it today which is a normal formality. The noise was enough to give us both headaches but unless we could find someplace to go we were stuck with it.

The laundry room was barely busy when I arrived so it was easy to get the clothes in the washers. Upstairs Kathy had already made a pile of clothes to be hauled out to the truck. The only difference between last week and today is that the contractors would hammer for a while then stop before repositioning themselves and starting the noise all over again.

Shortly after lunch I went downstairs to start folding the clothes that had been in the dryers for an hour. I wasn’t happy when I opened both dryers to find the clothes damp in one and still totally wet in the other. The one dryer has been repaired four times in the last month alone. All I could do was find other dryers to use. While I was again waiting for the clothes to dry I was on the phone with Coinamatic about their machines. I’ll be getting a refund in the mail and they’ll be sending another repairperson to fix the machines but that doesn’t give me my lost time back.

By the time I had everything folded and back to the apartment Kathy had filled more boxes and bins that needed to be delivered to our Climate Controlled Storage Unit. With the continuing sound of the Hammer Drill downstairs we didn’t hesitate to drive to Guardian Storage immediately this afternoon. Due to how well organized our unit is we were only there minutes and everything was in its proper spot. Before leaving we even collected some of our mail that is finally going to our new mailing address.

Last week we noticed gas and fuel prices at the Pioneer Gas Stations lower that we’d seen them here in ages but didn’t have time to stop. Prices of course rose again but we waited. After leaving the storage yard this afternoon when I saw the price of Diesel advertised even lower at $0.759 a liter ($2.873 a US gallon) we stopped in and filled both the tanks on the truck. It’s been seven years since we saw fuel this low in Ontario

By the time I’d fueled up it was after 5:00 and we were tired and hungry so we stopped at Taco Bell to have supper. We were home on time to see the 6 o’clock news but the sound of the Hammer Drills didn’t stop until 6:30. Here is hoping they won’t be back tomorrow. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!
