A Strip Of Sunlight, Account Problem and Government Backtracking.

Our Location today is at Windsor, Ontario.

After a fairly good night with only a few interruptions of sleep I awoke to darkness after 8:00 this morning. The Weather Network had shown that we would see the Sun for most of the day. Kathy came out to join me by 8:30 and stood at the Balcony Door trying to see a glimmer of light that wasn’t coming from a passing automobile.

With today being the first official day of Winter we were just as happy not to be seeing a ground cover. We compared notes that as children both our parents always insisted on our going outside to play with others in the snow. The worst part was that both of us suffered near Frost Bite affects due to the frigid temperatures. It worked out perfectly that we both enjoy the Snowbird Lifestyle.

Checking my E-mail I found a reply from our Friends Wayne and Sue who are presently at La Posa South LTVA in Quartzsite. For anyone who has ever spent more then a couple of weeks there just enjoying life at a slower pace you know how busy December can be. According to their report the number of people there are more line with the numbers at the end of March to the beginning of April. There are no Canadian RVers known to be there at this time. Also Herb’s Hardware is now permanently closed. If you had a repair or project that was the place to go. Thanks for the Information guys. We miss you.

It was shortly after after noon when we sat down to have lunch. Kathy heated up the Pork Roast and Gravy from last night’s supper to make Open-Faced Sandwiches for our meal. We also had Tea Biscuits and Apple Sauce Cups for dessert.

Heading back to the Computers we were surprised to see stripes of Sunshine beaming across our floor through the Blinds. As soon as I saw that I grabbed the Camera turned it on and crossed to the Balcony Door. I should have been quicker because I missed our Thirty Seconds of Sunshine for the day.

After finishing our Expenditure Spreadsheets the other day it was time to compare them with our accounts. It was easy to get into Two of our accounts but the Third just kept saying my “Log-in was incorrect”. We know that as we age remembering all the different Log-ins and Passwords is not always easy so we did it “Old School”. We actually had a small book that we keep all that written in. The good thing about that is if someone manages to hack our Computers that information is not there.

Calling the Eight Hundred Number I was surprised that within seconds of my connection I was speaking with Fred. We tried resetting this and that and changing a few other things. Luckily I had called using my Cell Phone that I was able to use my Ear Buds. Ninety Minutes later the problem was sent to the higher level of Tech Wizards who will have to get back to me in the near future. Always fun to spend most of the afternoon on the Phone and not accomplish anything.

For supper we didn’t want to overdo it so we just had Macaroni and Cheese along with Fruit Cake then an Apple Sauce Cup for dessert.

Watching the 6 o’clock Local News we learned our Ontario Government did a little backtracking on the Coronavirus Shut-Down. They are allowing Immediate Families to get together for Christmas and moving Zero Hour to 12:01 am on December 26th.
Something special about this Winter Solstice is the sight of Saturn and Jupiter lining up in the sky and appearing quite intense. With all the Clouds in our area we haven’t seen Stars in Months. We’d also have to go stand by the River to be looking in the right direction. It won’t happen again in our lifetimes.

Another thing about this Winter Solstice is the days will now start getting longer again. Last Summer Solstice the time between Sunrise and Sunset was Fifteen Hours and Sixteen Minutes. Today the time between Sunrise and Sunset was Nine Hours and Five Minutes. That Six Hours of Sunlight makes a big difference on how we feel.

With only Three Days until Christmas we have things to get done. Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.

Be Safe and Enjoy!

  1. It's funny how all the rules and regulations just keep getting changed with no rhyme or reason. You didn't miss much with the Christmas star. At least in Quartzsite, it was barely visible and no brighter than any other star out there. It's quiet here ... hardly anyone around.

  2. With our clouds, we knew that 'magnificent' star viewing wasn't going to happen either. thank you Nancy for confirming we didn't miss much.
Immediate family - their definition=someone living in the same household with you. My definition=children, siblings, parents. LOL

  4. I would be concerned if I couldn't access my financial account. Hope all is good. The sun does make a big difference and clouds do affect our attitude. Wonder how in the world a government could enforce family gatherings. Seems a personal decision to me. 😀 we do notice our missing Canadian friends here in the southwest. Have a good day.

  5. Here we are not allowed to have anyone inside our home nor our outside yard unless they live in the house permanently. In other words, no Christmas get togethers at all.
