At
least when I left for Work this
morning it wasn’t raining but the temperature was down to the
Mid-Forties. When the shift started I already knew what I
needed to do. When it comes to welding the Aluminium Floor Pans
the quickest and easiest way to do it is using the Spool Gun.
If this were a bigger shop they would have a larger MIG Machine
set up specifically for that application. We use a smaller MIG
designed to run the Spool Gun as an accessory but the problem
is it is Digitally Computerized. It took nearly an Hour
to get it running the way it should.
Unlike
the first time using this Machine I wore a Dust Mask to
help prevent the inhalation of some of the Smoke. The
Exhaust System in the plant is far from adequate. When you hear
someone say they were turning the Air Blue they are generally
referring to their Language. Today I was turning the Air
Blue from the Smoke that filled the air and it turned my
Welding Shield White. I had to stop several times to wipe the
lens clean just so I could see what I was doing.
Due
to the latest change to the Floor Pan Design it was once again
necessary to modify the Rotisserie. I used the Oxy-Acetylene
to do the cutting but it was easier to slide it over to the other
Welders Bench then to switch the Small MIG Machine
back to Metal then to Aluminium again. That saved me
nearly an Hours time.
I
mentioned some time back how the Spool Gun would burn up a
Contact Tip every Five Minutes. Today I completely
welded Two Floor Pans and only lost Five Tips. The
majority were near the end of the day when the Gun was getting
Hot.
I
did a good wash up at the end of the Shift. Kathy was again
waiting in Car in the parking lot because we had plans. I
needed to go for Blood Test at Dynacare
on Dougall Avenue. We
were half way there when I realized that my Wallet with my
Health Card were in my lunch bag back in the Truck.
Even with having to go back to the Truck to get that we were leaving
Dynacare shortly
after 4:30.
Our
next stop was the Royal Canadian Legion 194.
The office was already closed so I couldn’t renew my membership
today but we were able to enjoy their Friday night Fish Fry.
We both settled for the single piece Halibut and Chips. Even
though their prices have increased they are still cheaper then most
Restaurants.
We stopped at Home Depot to price materials that we will need for a future project and to pick up a Five Gallon Pail so that I can use to dye my Coveralls back to Blue.
After
picking up the Truck it didn’t take long to get Home.
Kathy had spent the morning cleaning up the rest of the Flowerbeds
for the Winter and there were bags of Yard Waste sitting on
the Picnic Table to prove it.
We
finally had to run our
Blue Flame Heater
to take the chill out of the air. Even though tomorrow is my
day
off I’ve still got
plenty of work to do around here.
Thank
you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.

Fish fry is always a nice treat! I'm sure your coveralls will look much better when they're back to blue :) Have a great weekend you two!
