The
problem with working small shops is that they sometimes make promises
to the Customers that they shouldn’t make. As mentioned
Thursday the Two Truck Body Projects were promised for
yesterday and there was no way to get it done. So there was something
said that bought us a few extra days to get them done but that also
meant working Overtime just when we really could not afford
for me to do it.
After
not having slept too well on Thursday Night I took an Extra
Strength Tylenol Night-Time Tablet to make certain I would relax.
When my head hit that pillow last night the next thing I remembered
was looking at the Clock on the Dresser that showed my
Alarm would be going off in Ten Minutes. I simply got
up early feeling totally relaxed taking my time and somehow was on
the road only Five Minutes ahead of the norm.
Having
very little Weekend Traffic to put up with at that time of
morning I was the first at Work
with the entire parking lot to myself. Most of the orders had already
been shipped out yesterday so the even Shipping and Receiving
Clerk actually took the day off. It wasn’t until another Welder
showed up Twenty Minutes before start time that I got inside.
I
just picked up where I left off yesterday welding and assembling what
needed to be done. When I went to use the Drill Press in the
Machine Shop I only counted Three Other
Employees and our Supervisor in the building. Then the
Owner who had been at the other Plant showed up at 9:00
bringing more of the parts that I needed. He told me the Pickups
had arrived and we needed to have them delivered by Monday afternoon.
When
I spoke to Kathy at noon she had been Sick all morning and had
finally been able to keep her lunch down. She had also booked a few
more appointments for next week.
By
noon everyone but the Owner and I had left for the day. We
worked together until 3:00 with Both Units totally
assembled even making a few Improvements along the way.
It
felt good to be Home. Kathy was
feeling somewhat better but didn’t feel like cooking so we went to
the 19th Hole Restaurant for
supper. We both enjoyed their Half Order Perch dinners. It
seemed to settle Kathy’s stomach making her feel much better.
Tomorrow
between errands, appointments and chores my day off should be very
relaxing.
Thank
you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.
Be
Safe and Enjoy!
It’s
about time.
