I
had to scrape the Frost off the Windshield before going
to Work this morning and the
Truck was just starting to warm up by the time I shut it down.
I already knew what I had to do so as soon as the Buzzer went
off I started welding the New Positive Stops in place and
grinding the tell-tale signs of where the old ones were. By 10:00
everything was piled on the Skid so that it could be sent to the
Paint Booth.
That was also the time that I was
punching out to meet Kathy in the parking lot. I had Two Doctor’s
Appointments this morning and had filled in a Leave of Absence
Form so they knew I was being serious. The reason for Kathy
meeting me was two fold as she also needed to see our Family
Doctor but it also gave us some together time.
Our
first stop was the Shoppers Drug Mart
on Tecumseh Road where Kathy went
to do some shopping while I walked over to my Specialist’s
Office. As long as Kathy is a customer at that Drug
Store her parking is free. If I parked by the Specialist’s
Office it is nearly Ten Dollars which we could buy
lunch for. My appointment went smoothly and I’m good for another
year.
We
then headed over to Wendy’s
around the corner from our Family Doctor. Neither of us were
very hungry so we both had a Chicken Wrap from the Value
Menu as well as a Seniors Soft Drink.
My
reason for seeing our Family Doctor today was my yearly
Drivers Physical. Due to the size of our Trailer I’m
required to have a Higher Qualified Drivers License even if it
is only for Personal and not Commercial
use. That went smoothly as well but then George asked how my job was
going. Then he reminded me that it has been over Ten Years
since I’ve had a Tetanus Shot which for someone Metal
Working is required to prevent Infections cause by Metal
Punctures. I had my booster before we left.
Kathy
was concerned about getting her Flu Shot and mentioned also
having had Pneumonia in the past. She received both
shots before we left the office.
I
stopped at the Pioneer gas
station to top off the Car before heading back to Work
and saying good bye to Kathy.
As
soon as I walking in the door the Shipping and Receiving Clerk
informed me that our Supervisor had gone home sick. Then he
pointed out a Truck in the lot and informed me that I had to
mount the Wood Chipper Dumper in it. Ben gave me a hand and we
checked it to be certain it was functioning properly before fastening
in the Truck-Bed itself which had me laying under the Truck
outside with my hands in very tight spots.
Do
you ever get those bad feelings. Everything was working until the
Customer came to pick it up at the end of the shift. Then
things only got worse. The Battery decided to just quit. It
wasn’t until after 6:30 that we had everything ironed out and the
Truck was finally out the door with the Dump Body
working like it did a Month ago.
In
the meantime that meant that Kathy had to go pick up a purchase all
by herself. She had to stop at our son Kevin’s so he could fold
down the Backseats because she didn’t know how. Then she and the
female seller struggled to get it up the stairs from the basement.
Both husbands were stuck at Work.
Kathy
was just pulling into our Site as
I turned onto our street from the opposite end of the street. We were
both so Tired, Hungry and Sore that we
headed to McDonald’s to have
Chicken Wraps for supper.
We
stopped in to say thanks to Kevin before heading Home.
We are both sore and tired. Sounds like an Extra
Strength Tylenol night
to me. Thank
you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.
Be
Safe and Enjoy!
It’s
about time.

Quarrel?
Nonsense; we have not quarrelled. If one is not to get into a rage
sometimes, what is the good of being friends?

I'm thinking you'll be happy when this work stint is over!

ReplyDeleteWhat a day you had. Hope the Tylenol helped.
You reminded me how aggravating things can get at work. Only thing I miss from back in my working days is the paycheck.
ReplyDeleteYou both had a long day. Hope Kathy does not re-injure her hand lifting heavy items.
