Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario,
Canada.
With all the running around
we did yesterday by the time we got to bed last night it didn’t take long for
us to fall asleep. We also had the windows open so as we slept we were
breathing all that fresh air. Combine those two things together with yet another
fact that we didn’t have anything pressing to do this morning and that gave us
both the cocktail we needed to sleep until nearly 8:30 this morning.
After finishing breakfast
and our morning reading we started getting other things finished. Kathy needed
to do some Bookkeeping that she had
forgotten to do. I on the other hand had to deal with Verizon. Years ago we were able
to Suspend our accounts for up to 180 days per year but that meant they were losing
money for six months so they changed the rules. Now we are only allowed that
type of suspension for one month but by lowering the size of the Data Plan it is a bit more reasonable. The
problem is whenever I try to make the payment On-Line which Verizon highly encourages they lock up my
account then forcing me to call them directly. Today was my lucky day because
with the help of Latoya the entire process took less then ten minutes.
We also completed a couple
of On-Line surveys one of which was
for the Canadian
Blood Services. By doing this survey in the comfort of our Home and then printing out the Confirmation Code would later save me more then a half hour.
It was barely noon and the
outside Humidex was already at 99 F (37 C) with no breeze whatsoever so it was time to turn our A.C. on. It was just too warm for Kathy
to function which caused her to sweat uncontrollably.
For lunch Kathy made open
faced Pork Sandwiches from the
leftover Pork Roast she cooked in
the Slow Cooker last week. Kathy also
cleaned the last of our fresh Strawberries
as I finished putting together the Yogurt
and Cool Whip to make our dessert.
We took the time to do the
dishes before heading out around 1:30. Our first stop was Windsor Gas and Diesel. When we
had the Truck serviced two weeks ago
Jim also did our yearly Safety Check
but the Ministry
Of Transportation didn’t send him the number of Stickers that he requested. They finally came in yesterday so that
didn’t take long to get that taken care of.
Our next stop was the Canadian Blood
Services building just up the
street. The Blood Donor Clinic didn’t
open until 3:00 but we were able to sit in the Air-Conditioned Lobby. We were reading when other people started wandering
in for the same reason. When we looked up there was Gord who I had once worked
with and who still lives in the same apartment building that we had. He lost
his wife this past winter so he was there to roll up his sleeve as a way of
returning the blood that she had needed.
Today was my 107th Donation and I’m
hoping to give many more. One of the nurses there Julie started making small
talk about our travels but was almost mesmerized when I was telling her about
being “Off the Grid” in the dessert.
She hopes to do that kind of thing when she retires.
We drove through our old neighbourhood
on our way to the Devonshire Mall. It’s been some time since we
drove by the house that used to own us. Lots of memories came flooding back but
not enough for us to want to give up our Lifestyle.
We walked around the Air-Conditioned
Devonshire Mall briefly giving us
some much needed exercise. We found our
way to the Food
Court where we had our choice of
things to have for supper. Unlike last weeks Chinese Food that lasted for two meals, today’s would only serve
the one.
Since we didn’t make it Home
in time for the evening news we had to wait for the 11 o’clock News tonight. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe
and Enjoy!
It’s about time.

ReplyDeleteOpen faced pork sandwiches are a great idea for leftover pork. I find it dries out so quickly. Congrats on the donations, nice job!
ReplyDeleteRick I have to wander if the people who envy your lifestyle and want to live it someday could really do it.
