Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario,
Canada.
Last night we both managed
to sleep like rocks which meant that I was so well rested that I was up before
7:00 this morning. I managed to open all the Window Shades and barely had time to get things ready for breakfast
when Kathy joined me downstairs. She had sensed my absence and immediately woke
up.
We were sitting at our
computers by 8:00 this morning which is something we don’t often do. Checking
the Local News, our E-mail and Blog it didn’t take very long for us to get caught up. Strangely this
morning one of the last things I did was to check The Weather Network. Looking at
the screen they were indicating Wind
Gusts of only 17 MPH but we were
getting Wind Gusts that were hitting
the trailer hard enough to give it a good shake every other minute. Having
experienced high winds when we were in the Arizona and New Mexico desert this forecast was off by at least half on
the speed.
Since there will be a Community Yard Sale here at Wildwood Golf
and RV Park this coming Saturday Kathy
decided to go through our kitchen cabinets. She found a number of Electric Appliances that she had not
used in quite some time and with our plans to do more Boondocking in the future she can’t see our holding on to them.
I went outside to pot some Citronelle Plants that we picked up at The Blooming
Gardener yesterday. They work
quite well at keeping Mosquitos away
but we could only get small plants so we purchased a Hanging Pot with room for three plants to grow. It was quite the
challenge with the Wind blowing
things around while I added potting soil to the mix.
Once that was finished I started
picking up handfuls of small twigs that the Wind was blowing from the trees on our site. I started cleaning the
patio first and by the time I had completely cleaned the lot once the Firepit
had a good base of kindling for the next Campfire
that we’ll have when it’s not so windy. Looking back towards the patio it
looked like I hadn’t cleaned it yet because it appeared to be raining small
twigs from the tree due to the Wind.
Kathy was starting to
collect the trash when I went inside so after helping her to finish I walked it
down to the Trash
and Recycle Area. By the time that I got back from that walk Kathy
was already making lunch. We enjoyed more Homemade
Tacos which were more then satisfying and it helped to clean up more
leftovers from the fridge.
The Wind seemed to be getting stronger and when I checked The Weather
Network at 1:00 they indicated we
had 86 F (30 C) temperatures but were getting 37 MPH Wind Gusts. There
was nobody out on the golf course and the Flags
on the pins were barely fluttering.
The rest of the afternoon
was spent on the Computer. I started
by ordering the Tightening Knobs for
our Solar Panels. To purchase them
locally would cost nearly Five Dollars
a piece while buying them through Amazon they will be less then Two Dollars each. By making a slight
modification to the Mounting Brackets
that I made last December and using these Knobs
I should be able to raise or lower the Solar
Panels with no tools in less then five minutes. I also researched other
things we have talked about adding to the trailer to make it safer for us when
we are traveling but found the prices much higher then when I looked back in
February while in the US. We might have to wait until this fall to
order them.
With the continuing high Wind Gusts Kathy thought having Pancakes with berries on top for supper
was better then having a sandwich. The Winds
finally calmed down after 8:00 this evening and the temperature is starting to
drop. Tomorrow we’ll be back to having cool springtime temperatures. Thanks for following along and feel free
to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!
It’s about time.
