Errands and Store Shelves Filling Up.

Our Location today is at Windsor, Ontario.

Once again we both slept past 8:00 this morning which is not totally bad but not good for getting an early start to your day. We had Toast with Marmalade for breakfast.
The Sun was so bright that we had to turn the Balcony Blinds in order to read from our Computer screens. We only had a single cup of our morning beverages before getting our chores finished and starting to make lunch. We chose to have Split Pea with Ham Soup along with sharing an Apple and Yogurt Cups for dessert.
We made certain not to Plan anything this afternoon but instead hoped to do a few things. One of those things was to restock a few Food Stocks that had become scarce during the first wave of Coronavirus Shutdown. It was not uncommon to go into different grocery stores to find empty shelves. With lunch over while I went through all the Food Drawers checking what we still have Kathy was making notes of what we needed to replenish. When I finished it was her turn to go through the Fridge and Freezer seeing what else we needed there.
We were out the door shortly after 1:00 with a course of action in mind. We took the Truck to give it some much needed exercise. Our first stop was Guardian Storage and our Climate Controlled Storage Unit. While Kathy went inside to open the Unit I started gathering things that had been stored in the Back Seat of the Truck. It took Five Trips to bring everything that belonged in the Trailer into the Storage Unit. There is still more that will come out once I start working but at the moment the Seat itself was empty. Unfortunately I still did not find the Folder that I am looking for.
We stopped to collect our Mail before heading over to Dollarama. We were surprised that we have not had our Thanksgiving nor Halloween yet and they are already starting to stock the shelves with Christmas decorations. We picked up a number of Food Stocks along with the Carbonated Juice (Fake Wine) at cheaper prices then the grocery store and it’s not produced in China.
Our next stop was Bulk Barn where again we picked up a few supplies that sell at cheaper prices then the grocery store.
Even though we saved money shopping at the last two locations we still had to go to Zehr’s grocery store to pick up Produce, things in Dairy and Frozen Food sections. There were a few things that we did pick up from the open cases as we were walking by at reasonable prices one of which would become part of our supper. Another thing we were finally able to pick up today was Diet Canada Dry Ginger Ale. It has been out of stock since March and the Manufacturers have concentrated on producing the more popular Cola drinks. It was past 5:00 when we were finally heading for home.
After parking the Truck I retrieved a large Shopping Cart from inside the rear entrance to the building. Luckily that Cart had multiple levels because they were completely full.

Inside the Apartment Kathy concentrated on getting the Frozen Foods and Produce put away whileI unloaded the Cart. After I returned it downstairs we started cooking supper even though not everything was put away. We nuked the last Three ears of Corn while getting everything ready for the meal and putting more groceries away.

When the Corn was ready and I was cleaning it we nuked the Precooked Spare Ribs that we had gotten just today. By the time the Corn was served the Ribs were ready as well. It all tasted wonderful and Kathy topped it off with a piece of Chocolate Cake for dessert.

Just as we were about to eat we turned the 6 o’clock Local News on. There was another Coronavirus Death in Windsor and more reported Cases. Our temperatures are going to become more seasonal. The Markets all took a hard fall today.

Once the Dishes were cleaned up we finished putting away the rest of our groceries. We’ve got an appointment tomorrow but not sure what else we’ll be doing. Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.
Be Safe and Enjoy!

  1. I'm jealous you have so many stores to choose from :-(

That is one thing I dislike about some stores like Walmart who put out their Christmas stuff before Halloween and Thanksgiving.

I am happy to report that at least since Monday, The Dollar Tree in my little town had NO Christmas stuff on their shelves.

I am going to have to buy some of the fake wine you all seem to enjoy since it has been months since I have been able to drink some.

  2. It seems your cases are increasing. We are very much on the downslide here in Arizona. Any news on your rig?

  4. I am so glad our county has been able to hold the virus off. We had a slight uptick in the last week closer to Ottawa. They were health care workers who worked in the city. We have not seen the shortages that other locations have.
