Talking Shop, Getting Things Fixed and Enjoying Our Campfire With Company.

Our Location today is La Posa South L.T.V.A., Quartzsite, Arizona, U.S.A.

Once again, we managed to sleep later than we like to in the morning. Kathy was even surprised to find out that I had only been up about Ten Minutes before she was. After taking the Mucinex-D again before going to bed last night she again noticed an improvement on her Congestion Problem. It was after 9:00 by the time we brought our Coffee/Tea over to the Computers to do our morning reading. As most of our regular readers know one of the first things I always check is The Weather Network. The 79 F (26 C) temperature for this afternoon was quite acceptable but the Wind Gusts of nearly 20 MPH had me concerned.
Setting Sun reflecting on he mountains to the east.
With the temperature already at 70 F (21 C) before noon the first thing I did was to check our Propane Tanks. Since the last time I had changed the Tank the only thing it was used for was cooking on the Stove, warming the Water-Heater and the Fridge. When I checked the Tanks this morning we once again had an Empty Tank.
For lunch we kept it lite by simply having a bowl of Soup, a Slice of Bread and a Yogurt for dessert.

Since we had extended an invitation to a Campfire for this evening I had noticed that a couple of our Camp-Chairs had lost the fasteners that hold the Arm Supports on. Not a problem, I had just the type of Screws to make the repairs in my Organizers in the back of the Truck. I had just gotten what I needed when our neighbour Wayne came over to chat. It had been a few days since we’d talked.

We talked shop about the differences between our Trucks with his being a few years older then ours. When I opened the Hood, he couldn’t believe how little space there is compared to his Truck. With Stricter Environmental Regulations there are more Sensors and Controllers that rob you of Fuel Mileage all in the name of Fighting Pollution. Wayne agreed with me that the higher your Fuel Mileage the less pollution is occurring but the Regulators don’t agree.

After Wayne left I finished my repairs but had to get some water. Having not been too active but standing out in the Arizona Sun I was starting to feel Lightheaded. I had to refill my Water-Bottle. While I was talking to Kathy a couple of Wind Gusts hit hard enough to shake our Trailer so they were closer to 30 MPH.

I set up the Firepit getting the Logs, Kindling and Newspaper in place so that if the Wind would die down we could have our Fire. We avoid having a Campfire when the Wind gets above 10 MPH because it could easily carry Sparks and we want to enjoy Nature not destroy it.

Kathy called me in for supper. She had cleaned up some Strawberries and was making Pancakes. The end result was a very tasty meal.

We had told Wayne and Sue that anytime we have a fire they are welcome to join us. We also invited Tom, Deb, Shirley and Kenyesterday if they weren’t busy to join us for a Campfire. When Kathy saw that the Wind had died down she had me start the Fire just before 6:00 and our other neighbour Darlene complimented us on how our fire was going. We found out that she and her husband Don are also from Washington. Seeing the Fire going from their Trailer Wayne and Sue came over to join us. They talked with Darlene and found out they only live a few miles from one another. Small world when you meet your neighbours out in the Desert.

The Sun had nearly set when we saw a vehicle coming up the path leaving a cloud of Dust behind it. At first, we were wondering who it could be when it suddenly it turned toward our site. It was Tom and Deb from Celebrating the Dance coming to enjoy the Campfire. We had said around 6:00 and even though it was slightly past Tom didn’t want to be late. He said they only had one Campfire back in the U.P. all last summer and he didn’t want to miss it.
My empty chair, Deb and Tom.
The Fire is reflecting off the rocks.
Everyone was having a good time visiting but it seems that Wayne is “Cursed”. It seems that everytime Wayne has come over for a Campfire with us the Flames suddenly die down and Wayne gets choked by the smoke for a few minutes. No one else just Wayne and if he moves his chair the smoke follows him. After about Fifteen Minutes of that the Fire just starts going like crazy with no more smoke. Weird! By 8:30 the temperature was cooling off and after everyone said their “So Longs” started heading for Home.
Wayne, Sue and Kathy.
With tomorrow being Supper Bowl Sunday we have special plans made. Thanks for following along, feel free to leave a comment and click on the pictures to enlarge them. Be Safe and Enjoy!

  1. Thanks again for the invite, and sorry we didn't make it, but these days go so fast, and we eat late enough as it is..Looks like a nice one though. They say smoke follows beauty..guess that's why Wayne gets smoked out. Your dinner looks delicious. Kathy is quite the cook! Her chocolate peanut bars were so delicious at Bloggerfest..yum

  3. You know how to get a fire going. And it looks like it drew a big crowd with it.

I'm glad Kathy is starting to feel better. More fun when you feel good.

We have very little breeze and that's it over here in Borrego Springs and it is warm. Glad the wind died down and didn't ruin your campfire evening.

  4. Glad the Mucinex D is working for Kathy! At least enough she gets rest and can breathe some. The strawberries look GREAT!

  5. We saw the fire and would liked to have come over, but by the time we had a bite and Skype with the kids we were done-in. It was a long day.
