Digging Out the Paperwork, More Store Closures and Getting Information.

Our Location today is La Posa South L.T.V.A., Quartzsite, Arizona, U.S.A.

Once again, this morning I was in no hurry to get out of bed. After having laid around under the Trailer yesterday it was something I haven’t done in a while and my body reminded me of it last night. Getting up just after 8:00 I had everyone of the Window Shades raised in minutes. That only let in more light but no heat seemed to follow. As soon as I’d gotten things ready for breakfast the Furnace was turned on to take the chill out of the Trailer even before starting the water to boil on the stove. That was all it took for Kathy to suddenly come join me downstairs.

We discussed what we needed to this morning while it was still cool outside. We took our Coffees over to the Computers so we could check our E-Mails and other messages. As if a repeat from last winter when I opened The Weather Network to our location in Quartzsite it was identical with that of McGregor back in Ontario at 41 F (5 C) at 9:00 MST
New Asphalt replacing the old washboard.

One of the things I was hoping to do besides getting a few more supplies this morning was to stop in at the Radio Shack in Blythe to see if they would do anything for our Weboost. Even if they could only give me a phone number to contact someone while the unit is still under warranty. Luckily Kathy files all our purchase receipts so we just had to find it. Looking it up on our Expenditure Spreadsheet helped cut the search time in half so we were soon on our way out the door.

Going westbound on I-10 would normally not take too long to make the Twenty Mile Run but there is still Road Resurfacing taking place. It looked like we would only slow to the Safe Construction Speed but we ended up at complete Standstills. Today’s Twenty Minute Run took almost a Full Hour

Since it was past noon MST we stopped at Del Taco for our lunch. With a totally different menu the Taco Bell we both ordered lightly but came away feeling full. Their food was just as tasty and reasonably priced. Minutes before we were about to leave the place filled up with people and students now on their lunch breaks. When we had pulled in we didn’t realize that traffic to their Drive-Thru would block us in.
Heading back to Quatzsite.
Leaving Del Taco by the back exit brought us face to face with the Dollar Tree. Kathy had been needing Wrapping Supplies for next year’s Merry Thanksmas so after spending considerable time walking the aisles she had most of her supplies.

Our next stop was Radio Shack to get Information about our Weboost. Like so many corporations Radio Shack has closed many of their locations and this was one of those stores. We were there back in March before heading for Home. We were also at O’Reilly’s Auto Parts store at the front of the parking lot two weeks ago and saw lots of cars parked by the store. Today we saw the sign hanging outside a very empty building with lots of cars going to the market a few doors over,
Dome Rock
We made a stop across the street at Ace Hardware where Kathy browsed the Christmas Section of the store while I got some Fender Washers and a piece of Pine Strapping that I’ll use for the Access Panel under the Trailer
Here's one for Karen and Steve.
When we got back to Quartzsite we stopped at the Chevron gas station on Main Street to top up our diesel. All the other stations were charging Twenty Cents or more per Gallon and when you get over Twenty-Five Gallons you gust saved over $5.00

It was past 4:00 by the time we got Home in La Posa South LTVA so I was not in the mood to start crawling around that late in the day. Instead I needed to go On-Line to get some Phone Numbers and Addresses. Calling the Yuma Radio Shack location only to get “The Number you have reached is no longer in Service”. I was able to get a Phone Number for Wilson Electronics so hopefully we can get our unit repaired through them.

I found the addresses to a number of other stores we’ll be visiting some time next week. For supper we had Macaroni and Cheese topped off with a Clementine Orange for dessert. With other pressing things to take care of we’ll see what happens tomorrow. Thanks for following along, feel free to leave a comment and click on the pictures to enlarge them. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.

  2. It seems that more and more chain stores are closing in different areas. We had two stores gone when we got home last year and our K Mart closed this summer. Hope you can find a place to get your unit repaired.

  3. Radio Shacks here are all closed. But the O'Reilly's Auto Parts seems to be OK so far.
