Washed Out Day.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

Even though we knew that we couldn’t sleep in late this morning we both managed to get a decent night’s sleep. Shortly after 7:30 this morning we were awake and getting ready for the arrival of Dan the building maintenance man. As soon as we’d finished breakfast it only took five minutes to have the kitchen counter completely cleared.

When there is work that will be done in our apartment we are always notified in writing the day before and we had been. Dan normally shows up at 9:00 in the morning but today he didn’t show up until after 10:30. He’d been delayed on a water leak on the 7th floor. He immediately started sanding the kitchen wall behind the counter before vacuuming the dust. Once that was finished he sealed the edge along the wall before putting a fresh coat of paint over the entire wall.

We’d also had a problem with one of the fasteners holding the sliding closet door rail in the office. Suddenly for some reason it slipped down the other day so now Dan had to finish extracting the fastener before inserting a new one into the cement ceiling. He even took the time to adjust the doors to work better than they ever have since we lived here.

It was well past lunch time when Dan left with the promise to come back after lunch. It was nearly 2:00 when he returned. This time it was to replace the new light fixture that had been replaced by contractors while we were away last winter. The problem with that light fixture was that it was meant for a home with a ten foot ceiling not eight. It hung so low that even Kathy would get smacked in the face if she forgot to step around it. It took Dan nearly an hour to change it to the same style as what is in our hall.

With the Humidex sitting above the century mark outside it wasn’t much use to work outside that late in the day but it that didn’t stop me from grilling a pizza on the Weber Q. It tasted great and with our new pizza pan it came out perfect. Tomorrow will definitely be a busy day. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.

  1. We hate our sliding closet doors in the 5er. They are forever coming out of the track. Paul took them off the other day and totally rebuilt them. Thank goodness.
