Went to Sleep and Wouldn’t Wake.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario.

Kathy and I were so tired from all the running around we had to do the last few days that we both were asleep within minutes of our heads touching the pillow. I only woke for a few moments around 6:00 before once again drifting back into the restful calm of sleep. The next time I opened my eyes the clock said it was past 8:00 and time to get moving. By the time I had started making breakfast Kathy appeared in the dining room.

I was hoping to get the laundry done today so I was trying to get things moving in that direction as soon as we were finished eating. That’s when it happened. Kathy went to use her new Asus laptop and it wouldn’t work. She had used it quite a bit yesterday and was starting to get the hang of it by the time she decided to call it a night. Not sure how she should shut it down I told her to just lower the screen and it would go to sleep. Boy did it ever and now it wouldn’t wake up.

Being unfamiliar with Windows 8 I tried a number of things with no luck at waking this computer. I called Cory at SX-Video and told him the problem. He gave a few suggestions of things that I’d already done to try but finally could only say to bring it back.

I immediately returned to the laundry since I had it all sorted when Kathy had called me. By 12:30 we were on our way to Essex in hopes of resolving the problem. The only way Cory could activate the computer was to first pull the battery. Once he restarted it the computer went straight into program upgrade some 35 upgrades in total. That gave us time to go do some grocery shopping at the No-Frills next door. There were so many upgrades we still had time to drive down the road for a coffee.

What Cory believed was when we wanted the computer to wake up it went straight to the upgrade mode without lighting up the screen. It was nearly 4:30 by the time we got home and being this was Friday we decided to go out for Fish and Chips at our favorite spot the Legion. What other way can you have a good meal and support the Vets at the same time.

There was something very strange when we were leaving to go out we decided to use the truck and so did something else. Sitting on the warm hood of the truck was a Praying Mantis. The strange part is you never see such insects in our area but we did tonight. No matter how slow or how fast I drove this poor creature held on to the wiper blades all the way to the Legion and finally fell off less than a block away on our return to the apartment.

There are things to do and places to be tomorrow so here’s hoping Kathy’s computer doesn’t decide to sleep in again tomorrow. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!
