Last Friday we spent extra time welding a rebuild Feedscrew. Having put it in the Sandbox to slowly cool over the weekend, I was not surprised to have to do more welding on it today. Mile apparently pulled it out on Saturday morning and started grinding it. When grinding Hard-Surfacing Material it is important to wait until it is cold, otherwise the grinder rips out more Material then Planned.
I had Sorough doing all kinds of preparation chores while I used the Hand Grinder to remove Damaged Materials. It would be past 10:00 before the “Begin to Weld” button was pressed. By repairing one Flight at a time it was well past noon before the first was repaired. We also had to constantly monitor the width and height using a Vernier and Micrometer for consistency. Mile only peeked in twice to check on our progress, while he was showing potential new employees around the Plant. When I explained the how we were double checking things as we went, he walked away with a smile on his face. I had to stay slightly past the shift for the final Flight, before the Screw could again be put to slow cool in the Sandbox.
It felt good to finally get home and be with Kathy. She decided to stay in today, due to showers earlier this morning.
For supper we had a Store-Bought Thin-Crust Hawaiian Pizza, but this was not the usual brand we purchase and we did not find it as satisfying.
The weather guessers are showing today was the last of our warm days until Spring.
