Colder Then Expected, Getting Things Wrapped Up and A Change Of Plans.

Our Location today is at McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

When the temperature hit a Balmy 48 F (9 C) yesterday we found it to be way to warm inside the Trailer so we lowered the Heat. We slept comfortably all night but when we got up this morning the moment we crawled out from under those cozy Winter Sheets we knew it was cold.
Opening the Window Shades it looked like a Spring Day with the Sun reflecting off our Neighbour’s Trailer. Then we saw the Contractors who are working in the Transient Area of the Park wearing Winter Parkas. I only needed to touch the Window to know what scene to believe.
As soon as we finished breakfast and turned on the Computers I checked to see how warm it was. With the drafts that come in along the Slides it definitely felt like the 23 F (-5 C). Reading other RVers from Ontario we can at least be thankful that we aren’t getting any of that White Stuff that they are getting. We made it a Two Cup morning and found chores that needed to be done all in preparation of our departure.
Using our Electric Fireplace to heat our Trailer.
Kathy noticed that the more Pain she was experiencing in her hand from the Arthritis felt worse because of the fact it was cold inside the Trailer so instead of letting her suffer I raised the Heat.

For lunch we had a bowl of Vegetable Beef Soup to warm us up and some Cookies for a dessert.
Even though it was warming up inside the Trailer Kathy was having chills so she stayed inside while I went outside to wrap up our trees. Emerald Cedar Trees can be damaged by heavy snow so by wrapping them they have a better chance of surviving the winter without any loss of limb.
I stopped for a water break around 2:00 and Kathy still felt achy so I suggested she walk around a block. That stretch her muscles, keep her warm but not cause her to be overheated. I continued working on the trees while she walked. On her way back up our Street our neighbours Kevin and Lorrie invited her to share their last Campfire of the season. They asked about our travels, when we were leaving and when we’d be back. They are planning on spending the winter working on a House they just purchased in Leamington. She was comfortable by the Fire but only stayed a short while before realizing it was time to make supper.
Even at 48 F (9 C) Kathy had me grilling a couple of Salmon Fillets and Spring Rolls on out Weber Q while she was busy sauteing Mushrooms, cooking Broccoli as well as cleaning up a Cantaloupe for dessert. As always everything tasted wonderful.

We had just finished cleaning the dishes when we received a call from Vera who we planned on visiting tomorrow. She has to see a Specialist about her Knee that was injured when she broke her Wrist and Ankle. The problem is that she has to go to his Office. We still have an appointment and we’ll find something else to do.

Tonight we are not turning down the Heat. Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.
Be Safe and Enjoy!

  1. I hope you can leave before the snows come. Our mornings are chilly but comfortable, but the house stayed cold today and since my daughter was coming with her granddaughter my great granddaughter I made some zucchini pizza bites in the oven. That worked to get rid of the chill. Stay warm

  4. Looks like you are getting ready for your winter departure. We will be leaving mid-November this year. Hope to see you down the road.
We actually experienced a couple of pretty good snowfalls on the way down here last Monday. (We are visiting our son and family.) Hoping to be out of the UP before the real snows hit.

  5. Yep, it sure is sounding like winter is on it's way and it's time to head south. We definitely got out of Ontario just in time to beat that cold weather.
