We had
another wonderful night’s sleep and managed to wake feeling refreshed. The reason
we felt that way probably had something to do with the Heavy Rain that pounded on our Roof
all night. A look at the Rain Gauge would
later reveal that we had 2 & 3/8” of
Rain overnight which is a lot for this area.
We
finished breakfast and were sitting at our Computers
by 8:30 this morning but we knew there was still plenty of Work we had to do before we set out this afternoon. While Kathy was
on her Computer I was busy wrapping
some Special Gag Gifts that I custom made the Wrappers for. They turned out better
then I thought but I’ll have to wait to display them because someone that reads
our Blog is also getting one and we
don’t want to spoil the surprise.
After
I took my shower we had located all the ingredients for our contribution to
today’s Celebration when Kathy realized that she was short on Sour Cream. I was soon on my way to the
No Frills grocery store in Essex to fix that problem. Since Kathy had decided to stay Home she didn’t see the Cooper’s
Hawk sitting on the Power Lines
in search of its next meal.
We
kept lunch lite but filling by having Macaroni
and Cheese. After eating while Kathy did up the Dishes I busied myself repackaging the last batch of Vitamins that we picked up this week. Like
the last time, once I was finished there were a Dozen Empty Containers headed for the Recycle Bin which means that much less space is wasted when we travel.
Shortly
after 3:00 we had all the Gifts we were distributing today
loaded in the Car and were on our way
to our son Kevin and daughter-in-law Melissa’s house in Amherstburg. We were just pulling in the driveway when I realized we had
forgotten the Gag Gifts. Let’s just say it didn’t take me long
to be back with them.
Cody
and Heather would miss the meal but everyone had brought something to add to
the Merry Thanksmas Celebration. The first time we held this
Thanksgiving/Christmas Celebration our daughter Karen kept tossing names
around of what we should call it and that’s what she finally came up with. When
we mentioned the name to some friends that winter they said they had heard that
somewhere before. Back Home Kathy had Googled the term to find it was in the Urban Dictionary and had been used by
people that would not be home for the second holiday. The term has been used since
before WWII but we naturally refer
to it as Merry Thanksmas and get some weird looks from
people that are home for the Holidays.

Kathy
had supplied the Plates that were on
the small size so nobody went without a second plate of food. I must have
started at the wrong end of the line because I had my Salads as my second helping. With the outside Temperature being only 63 F (17 C) the food is served in the House
but the long tables for eating at are set up in the Garage. Then it was time for the Gifts so Kathy and I hauled them to
just outside the Door but
deliberately left the Gags in the Car. Everyone loved them, from the smallest Gifts to the larger ones because Kathy chooses the Gifts to match the person we are giving it to not just a generic
token. There were a few confused looks because some gifts were opened out of
order. Then we gave out the Gag Gifts telling everyone they had to open it all
at once. Everyone was laughing and enjoyed it as much as the larger Gifts.

It
was past 8:00 when Heather finally got off work. Being the newest employee, she
got stuck working while senior employees spend the day with their families. She
was tired but was soon happy at what she received and like the others had the
biggest smile with the Gag Gift.

Everyone
went home with a Doggie Bag for
tomorrow’s lunch. It was after 9:00 when we got Home. Thank you for following along and feel free
to leave a comment.
Be
Safe and Enjoy!
It’s about time.

A fine line by Mark Twain:
I didn't attend the funeral,
but I sent a nice letter saying I approved of it.
Love your gift ideas. I'm going to keep them in mind for OUR Christmas. Looks like you had a lot of fun with family.
