Informative Visit and A Surprise Birthday Party.

Our Location today is at McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

We both managed to be awake around 8:00 this morning and appreciated the fact that it was comfortable inside the Trailer. With the medication Kathy has had to take for her Arthritis she slept soundly. Strangely so did I but I think it might have been something to do with all the Fresh Air that I got yesterday.
Our morning Sunrise.
We didn’t have much time to ourselves reading this morning because we had to have an early lite lunch and were heading out the door by 11:30. I had promised one of our neighbours that I would drop off a bag of Yard Waste at the Composting Bin so I loaded that before we drove off. We also drove by Larry and Nichole’s Site to wish them a “Safe Winter” only to find out that they won’t be going south this winter due to a Medical Restriction at the International Border. It only took a minute to stop at the Composting Bin and we were on our way.
Chicken Noodle Soup, Cheese Sticks.
Graham Crackers and Orange Slices for dessert.
Strangely the traffic in Windsor was more congested then it normally would be and we had to make way for a couple of EMS Vehicles. Luckily we still arrived at our destination the Devonshire Retirement Home with Five Minutes to spare.
Mostly Sunny but brisk day.
We were there to visit my aunt Anna and uncle Bob before we head south this winter but we only saw Anna when we arrived. Bob had been hospitalized at the end of last week for Pneumonia. What was surprising was the Doctors told him that he was Contagious and until he was deemed cured he should avoid seeing people. Anna thought that was as strange as we did, so she had checked it out on the Computer to find out that it was true. That just gave us more time to visit with Anna herself.
My aunt Anna.
We were talking about things from our past and had a real eye-opener into Anna’s. I had known about quite a bit of it but Kathy was quite surprised. Having grown up during WWII there were a lot of restrictions the Canadian Government imposed on the Farmers so they would grow the food to feed the Troops. That affected their families as well. As Anna said about my grandfather, if he was in a good mood he was a very loving person but if something was bothering him, it was best to stay out of his way.

Three Hours just seemed to fly by and she really wished we could stay longer but we had to go. With hugs and kisses to her and best wishes to Bob we promised a visit as soon as we returned in the spring.

The first thing we did was to go to Wendy’s to have supper from their Value Menu. The last time we had a Full-Sized Salad and felt stuffed afterwards.

Leaving there we picked up a Chocolate Cake and a tube of Gel-Writer at the Freshco grocery store.
Minzi, Kathy, Maria and Vera.
Our next destination was the Windsor Rehabilitation Center. Since it had been such a long day we freshened up downstairs and used one of their tables to write on the Cake. We were soon on our way up to surprise our friend Vera and to wish her a Happy Birthday. She wasn’t the only one surprised when we walked in because a couple of friends from her church had the same idea. We had a Small Party and Vera was just so happy her face appeared to glow.
A Birthday Card signed by all her friends at Church.
The back cover was also full.
The other ladies left just before 8:00 but Vera wanted to talk to Kathy who has always been her go-to for advice. Showing how she is getting better Vera walked us to the Elevators before saying Good Night. She also had us drop off the rest of the cake at the Nurse’s Desk saying the Nurses needed it more then she did.

We had to make another quick stop at Dollarama. Knowing what we were looking for helped us to get our purchase and leave just as they were locking up for the night.

It was past 9:30 by the time we got Home and once I’ve finished writing the Blog, I have some computer Work to do. (Hate using that four letter word.) Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.

  1. Yes I found out Pneumonia was contagious when my late husband had it he also had appendix at the same time. By time he was well enough to come home I got Pneumonia. Nasty stuff. Wishing your uncle well.

  2. Pneumonia is why I'm so careful about staying away from ANYONE who is coughing or wheezing.
