Yard Sale, And So It Goes.

When the Alarm went off at 6:00 this morning we both wanted to roll over and go back to sleep but we knew that we had to push on. Having talked about not looking at the Computers yesterday soon changed when Kathy felt a bit chilled which is odd for someone who is normally too hot. Checking The Weather Network we found the Temperature to be 57 F (14 C) which was quite a contrast to the Temperatures we’ve been seeing as of late.

After having breakfast and gulping down our Coffee/Tea we were on our way out the door minutes before 7:00. It was odd seeing a Heavy Dew on the windshield but fortunately it was short lived with the few swipes of the Wipers. It almost felt eerie as we headed up Manning Road towards Tecumseh hardly passing any other vehicles.
Lots of parked vehicles that aren't usually by our daughter's.
When we arrived at our daughter Karen’s house we were surprised to find all kinds of vehicles parked across the street. After dropping Kathy off I had to park half way into the next block. While we helped set up for the Yard Sale we learned that there were a number of other neighbours around the corner that were also having Sales and with no place to park their vehicles in front of their own houses had taken up all the spaces in front of our daughter’s house.
Just starting to get things set up at our daughter's.
This brought back memories of when we were Downsizing and getting ready to sell our House. Karen had not only invited us to share her driveway but Margret and Lisa. Even though everyone had their wares priced reasonable there were still the hardcore shoppers wanting to bargain a lower price. We even saw a few try to hide other items together so those Sales were turned down. It also showed that there were plenty of Honest People willing to bargain fairly. It was cute watching some parents shopping with their young children but being mindful of them in the process by teaching them what was polite and not. With so many houses on the block having Yard Sales we believe that might have slowed everyone’s sales but we all sold Stuff that turned into Treasures for others.
This little one was cute while Dad shopped.
The weather really cooperated in our favour much more than originally forecasted. Karen served a few Snacks and Tea that helped all of us make it through the day. As per usual as we were closing up there were the Last-Minute Shoppers hoping to find things at give away prices. Instead of that we had all agreed that some of the lesser unsold items would be donated to Local Charities that would happily accept these articles. Everything was loaded in the vehicles and the Driveway cleaned before we left at 2:20.
a Beautiful Weed amongst the dead grass.
The snacks had worn off so Kathy and I stopped at Wendy’s where we enjoyed our meal from the Value Menu which was satisfying as well as being reasonably priced.

We did drop a few things off back at our Climate Controlled Storage Unit that we will post For Sale on the Computer long before we head south.
Clouds starting to fill the sky.
It was nearly 4:00 when we arrived Home and after emptying our pockets and refilling our Laundry Money Jar we both sat down to relax for a bit. I was a little more tired than I thought and actually had a Snap.

For supper Kathy served Open-Faced Pulled Pork Sandwiches with Coleslaw and Cottage Cheese for dessert. We watched the movie “And So It Goes” with Diane Keaton and Michael Douglas. We could both relate to the characters after having been through personal losses of that type ourselves.

We’ll see what tomorrow brings. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

  1. Yard sale seems to have gone fairly well and donating left overs is always a nice way to let someone else find something they might really need

  2. Nice you were able to sell items you don't need any more. Every nickel in your pocket is a good thing!!

  3. A yard sale is always fun place to shop. I used to go with my mom almost every weekend way back when. Nice that you all decided to donate the leftovers. An early day but sounds like a nice one!

  4. I so need to have a garage sale but I've said that for years! I doubt I'll ever be able to have one.

I've been down and out for the count since last Tuesday. I had a terrible reaction to the pain med I was on and I stopped it cold turkey which has been "a trip". After surgery I was anxious to get off hydrocodone and whatever else they had me on as fast as possible. One year later when I was still having the pain I had before surgery, I was recommended to a pain clinic--well you know the story. I was put on a medication and told that it was not addictive. Since that time, they have discovered that it is and it's a terrible withdrawal. With the other drugs, they can step you down--they can't with this drug. Fortunately, I never abused it (I can't imagine what those people who do must go through, but I've been on it every day for four years). I never took 4 pills per day, as prescribed. Generally 2 and upon occasion when I really felt the need, 3. I just hated what it did to my brain. I decided to do it on my own (against my daughter's wishes). I think when the government came down so hard on the Opiods (sp?), the drug companies came in with this drug telling doctors that this was not addictive and it's just coming out now just what a dangerous drug Tramadol is. We've done some research on the web.

Sorry for rambling. So tired of TV and being flat on my back.

The withdrawal process has been terrible with pain so bad I can barely get across the room. I hope to be able to get into the pain clinic this week. My doctor is only there three days per week. I don't know HOW I'm going to get there. Enough of my woes. I probably should have done a blog instead of crowding your blog, Rick. I apologize.
