After only a brief time in my Recliner, we were both in Bed before midnight last night. This is the perfect time to answer a Comment, asking why we don’t just leave the Air Conditioner run during our HOT temperature days. The truth is we have in the past because our Rent has the Electricity grandfathered in. As Kathy’s condition becomes more unpredictable, so are her comfort levels. Being used to the Heat myself, I would prefer sleeping with the Window open and the Fan running, Kathy cannot handle that. When the Apartment is cooled to the same temperature that we have always set it for years, Kathy starts wearing her Denim Jacket to keep warm but will not shut the Tower Fan blowing at her from across the room. She did not argue leaving it on last night because the Humidex was 102 F (39 C) when we said good night. Having the AC running all night helped us both sleep better, because we snuggled under our Comforter. I’m just waiting to wake up with Frost inside one of these mornings.

Waking up just before 9:00 I was well rested and comfortable. Waking only minutes after 9:00, Kathy was wrapped in her Winter Housecoat saying she was cold, not realizing that she had just left her body heat back in the bedding.

Breakfast has become old news with Cookies and Yogurt Cups before taking our Coffees to our Computers, I also had to print out my latest Medical History and Medication Lists, that I would need later in the day.

It was still early, but before hitting the shower we shared a Store-Bought Thin-Crust Medium Pizza. This was one of those that Kathy chose from the freezer case at Zehr’s against my advisement, because she thought the Yellow pieces on the package were Pineapple, not the Hot Banana Peppers they turned out to be. I took the slices with the most Peppers but still had to pick more off. I did not mind.

As soon as I had cleaned up, we were headed out the door, with Kathy waiting inside while I got the Car. Traffic was not light but the route we took had no problems with Construction so I was Twenty Minutes ahead of my appointment. When I went to register, the Receptionist informed me the Surgeon I was there to see was in the Second Office around the back. Though we were still inside the building, we had to walk by the South facing windows.

Walking into the Second Office, there were line ups at Three Receptionists and at least Thirty People sitting in the Waiting Room. By the time I registered for the second time, we snagged the last two seats, while more started standing along the walls. My 2:00 appointment turned to 3:00 after few mishaps. I was surprised when my name was called but when the Orthopedic Intern started asking me which Knee I was having problems with I said “Shoulder”, She said not according to her report. I asked, “What’s the last name”? It was not mine.

Back to the Waiting Room, I just finished explaining to Kathy what happen, when my name was again called. I asked the last name, again it was someone in the hall. The Third Time they got it right. Kathy came with me this time. After testing my lack of Shoulder strength, the Intern explained that according to the X-Ray and Ultrasound the Ligament is nearly completely torn from the Bone but with Modern Techniques, should be an easy fix. We waited in that Interview Room for Ten Minutes, before the Surgeon came in, read what was on the Computer and left. We were back in the Waiting Room for another Ten Minutes before seeing the person scheduling Arthroscopic Surgery for October.

We stopped at the Brace Shop next door to get a Sling unlike anything I have ever seen, along with an Icing Machine that will help reduce any Post Surgical Swelling. I had my Knee done that way Thirty Years ago and only had a pair of Crutches to help me out. They even carried it out to the Car.

It was past 4:00 before we were heading for home. After an early lunch and all that talk of Surgery, we stopped at Wendy’s for supper. Even at that early hour the place was packed, thanks to AC, Cold Drinks and Frosties.

Luckily, I had been able to park fairly close to the door at both places. Kathy insisted on helping me get everything in from the Car but I played it smart. I used our Folding Two Wheeled Shopping Cart to bring it up to the Apartment. It was not very Heavy, just Bulky.

We watched the “6 o’clock Local News” and Two episodes of “WWII” narrated by Tom Hanks.

With the Humidex reaching 115 F (46 C) this afternoon, Kathy did not say she was feeling Cold, so the AC is still on.
