Wonderland?

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

When people ask me where I work lately, my answer is “Wonderland”, because I don’t know what job needs to be done, or if the PTA Machine will work.

Wednesday was a day that had me wondering “What the Heck”?

Thursday had me wondering “What Next”?

Today had me wondering “When’s this going to end”?

Normally a Six Inch Diameter Feedscrew can be welded on the PTA within a Half Day. With all the problems you have read about lately, today only added to them.

Thankfully it was not as Hot as it has been lately, but the Burners were still needed to warm the Unit up within an Hour. Unlike Tuesday the Hard-Surfacing Material was being applied, but nothing as to what was needed. Last December the Flow Rate was set at 12 Grams/Minute for this sized Screw. At Easter it increased to 15 Grams/Minute. In July, 18 Grams/Minute and August, 30 Grams/Minute. Even though I reported the change I was told to make it work. This morning it was set at 50 Grams/Minute and it was not enough.

We always use the same Powder Bin for the Colomoy 56 Hard-Surfacing Powder and I rebuilt it on Wednesday. Yesterday was the Argon/Electrical issue and now the problems continued. The strange part was that if the Powder Flow was turned off and the Feed-Line was disconnected the Powder was spraying out faster then it was needed to weld. Mile just walked away shaking his head when this latest problem was demonstrated.

After numerous repairs to the PTA Torch and the Feedscrew itself the Unit that took Three Days to complete, was finally laid to rest in the Sandbox just as the lunch break buzzer went off.

Hopefully, after having the weekend off, things will work better on Monday.

  1. This is starting to sound like a good place to be from. Don't ruin your life trying to make it work when it is obviously broken and nobody seems to want to fix it except you. Life is too short to waste it on this type of crap.
