Mostly Packed Up, Visiting A Tire Shop, Route Planned and Unbelievable Sunset.

Our Location today is on Plomosa Road BLM Land, Quartzsite, Arizona, U.S.A.

Why I was laying in bed at 7:00 this morning is unclear to me but by 7:30 my Back decided it was time to get up. After getting cleaned up I was busy getting things ready for breakfast when Kathy joined me downstairs by 7:50. We talked of what we needed to accomplish today in order to be ready to hit the road.  We also watched as Three more RVs from the Rally pulled out this morning.
Three Remaining RVs from the Rally. Our;s in the middle.
We spent a short amount of time finishing our Coffees at our Computers before starting our inside chores. It seemed that we weren’t moving fast enough as Red drove over saying he was making a trash run for the remaining Rally Participants. Being more trash conscience then many we will be able to wait until we leave. With a big Thank You for making the offer he was soon on his way.

VW Beetle ahead. Popular cars out here.
That meant if we wanted to accomplish things we had to get moving but before I was finished getting dressed we had another visitor. Lorne from A Place Called Away had rode his Bicycle over to let us know that the gang was leaving this morning and to wish us Safe Travels. We returned the wishes and hope to be meeting them down the road again.
These are not Sunsets, They are works of Art.
Even with the Cloud Cover our area had by 9:30 you could still feel the heat of the Sun. I went on the roof and lay all the Solar Panels for travel then removed our Windsock. In the Twenty Minutes it took to do that I had already drank an entire bottle of Water.

After a short break I went back out to air up the tires on both the Trailer and the Truck. Once the Generator was running the Compressor had no problems filling the Tires. I started on the South Side of the Trailer before the Sun warmed the Tires then moved to the North Side. The Front Tires on the Truck were next before moving to the Duals. In Ontario we are required to have a Yearly Safety Test done on our Truck. We delayed having it done last year until just before we headed south. After checking the Rear Brakes whoever replaced the rear Wheels lined the Inside and Outside Dual Valve Stems up making it impossible for me to add air to the Inside Tires on both sides. That meant that I could only inflate both the Outside Duals but not the Inside.

After explaining the problem to Kathy, I went outside to close things up. Once the Compressor was back in the Basement I loaded the Generator in the back of the Truck. It was around that time that Kathy called me in for lunch. She recreated the Leftover Pepper Steak by serving it on Egg Noodles which tasted completely different then on Rice.

As soon as I changed from my Work Clothes we were on our way to Quartzsite and American Custom Tire. When I explained our problem to David he said he could work us in if we came back in One Hour. No Problem!

Since we arrived in Quartzsite back in December we have visited Dorothy and Toto’s Ice Cream Shop many times for good reason. When you purchase any Ice Cream Snack from them they punch it on a Reward Card. Fill a card and it entitles you to a free treat. Since the Outside Temperature was 81 F (27 C) with no breeze we used the Two Cards we had as our Final Treat for this winter to cool down.

We were back at American Custom Tire in just about a Half Hour. After checking in I was told to back up to Bay #2. Kathy walked to one of the Long-Time Vendors just down the street that will be retiring after Twenty-Eight Years at that location. She managed to get some Bargains at very low prices.
David resetting our Duals.
I patiently waited as they continued to get other customers that had been there before me taken care of.  When David looked at our rear wheels he couldn’t believe someone had installed them like that. It only took a couple of minutes to remove, reposition and retorque the Outer Duals on both sides but then a Delivery Truck pulled in and he had to help unload it. He inflated all the Dual Tires to the same pressure and we were done in less then an Hour at a very reasonable price. He also clarified that our Truck does not have Sensors built into the Valve Stems like many do so I’ll be able to have the Stems replaced.
Almost ready to go.
We were back Home by 2:30 so we started plotting our route that we’ll take to head home to McGregor. It leaves us feeling sad that we First have to leave earlier then we normally would, Second, we won’t be doing much sightseeing along the way, Third, because of the Work we’ll have to do when we get there and Fourth, they are still getting Snow back home.

The Ice Cream Cones we had this afternoon made it so we weren’t very hungry for supper but with Kathy’s Diabetes she had to have something to eat so we had Toast & Rhubarb. Kathy cleaned up the kitchen after she sent me to set up the Firepit. We had trouble concentrating on the Fire tonight because of all the fantastic Sunset Pictures we were getting.

We headed in shortly after 7:30 so that we can get other things ready for our departure in the morning. Since we have to dump our Waste Tanks and take on Water tomorrow will be a short travel day. Thanks for following along, feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.
