More Things Moved.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

We don’t know what happen this morning but we were both out of bed and raring to go by 7:30. Watching the Weather Channel as we had breakfast confirmed that this would be the best day for hauling the larger pieces of furniture that we planned on storing out at our Climate Controlled Storage Unit. It also indicated that the morning temperature was below the freezing mark so we continued working on things inside the apartment.

We did take the time to do our morning reading at the computers as well as accomplishing other necessary E-work. Kathy double checked the progress of our latest ad on Kijiji while I copied a few more documents from my now obsolete E-mail address. By 10:00 Kathy was starting to think it was lunchtime because of the early hour we got out of bed. I had to reminder her to look at the clock.

We moved to the living/dining room where Kathy started sorting more of our cake decorating tools that had been stored in our in-apartment storage. I busied myself custom making boxes for a few of our wall hangings that we want to keep. By 11:30 when Kathy announced it was early lunch we had more piles for donate, give away and keep.

As soon as the dishes were washed we started loading the truck. Luckily the temperature had risen but the wind still reminded you what the season was. Using our utility cart it took us nearly an hour to load and securely fasten the seven foot tall Curio Cabinet, the Sideboard and the second End Table. The inside of the truck only contained the utility cart and the wall hangings I’d packaged this morning.

Driving all the way to Guardian Storage with the Four-Way Flashers on and staying below the speed limit all the furniture made it safely to its new temporary home. In the process of moving boxes around I managed to snap a couple of the slats on one of the lighter duty skids we’d collected last weekend. We instantly made the decision to head out to locate heavier duty skids so we wouldn’t have to deal with injuries or a toppled over pile of boxes. We had barely left the storage yard when we noticed two nice clean heavy duty skids at one of the neighboring properties lying right by the road. After a minor adjustment the new skids were installed with everything safely piled back on top and the old skids were moved to a scrap pile by the trash container.

It was past 4:30 when we headed towards home but we were both tired and hungry so we stopped at Gilligan’s bar and grill. Using a coupon we had our fill of their Haddock fish and chips.

Feeling slightly re-energized we returned to the apartment where we emptied our electric Wine Cellar and loaded it in the truck. Due to some of Kathy’s medications she can no longer drink any alcoholic beverages so we no longer need the cellar. We brought it over to our daughter Karen’s home to give it to her. Unfortunately when we walked in they were about to sit down for supper and they had guests. We said our see-you-later and were nearly back to the truck when our son-in-law Greg came running out insisting we stay for a visit. Back inside they insisted we join them for the meal but since we’d already eaten we weren’t hungry. We sat off to the side visiting a short while as they ate but we were starting to feel the wear and tear of the last few days. We finally said our goodbyes and headed home.

The apartment is starting to have a lot more empty floor space than it ever did and even though there is still lots to sort, pack and move we are detecting a faint echo in the rooms. The 6 o’clock News is showing lots of rain headed our way for tomorrow. With only thirteen weeks left we’ll probably be working inside getting things done tomorrow. It feels like an early shower and bedtime night calling us. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!
