Lots More Progress Made.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

Even though it was just after 8:00 this morning when we got up we were both feeling refreshed and drugged at the same time. We made brief plans of errands we needed to run plus other things we needed to do in order to move ahead with our plans for Fulltiming.

By 9:30 we were on our way to Guardian Storage to sign our agreement to rent our Climate Controlled Storage Unit. It only took minutes and within minutes Carol the clerk was showing us to where our unit was. We’ll have the use of dolly cart inside the building when we start bringing other things in instead of using our utility cart.

We stopped at Princess Auto to see if they had any firewood racks in stock but found a bicycle carrier that might work better than our present one. The beauty of buying it now is because it was on sale and if I find something better within the next six months I can return it unopened for a full refund.

Instead of bringing the bicycle rack back to the apartment we returned to Guardian Storage and our trailer. We put the bicycle rack inside the trailer and removed a clothing rack we’d purchased before Christmas. We drove across the storage yard to our storage unit and left the clothing rack inside for use when we start bringing in some of our clothes on hangers.

We needed to return to Walmart so that I could purchase a high capacity Memory Stick because the one I was using became corrupted and would no longer work. Due to the fact my old PC won’t recognize the Desktop Hard Drive Storage Unit I have to transfer the files from the PC to a laptop before uploading into the storage unit. We also lucked out by finding a brand of memory stick that I’ve always been lucky with at half the price with double the capacity of other brands.

We got back at the apartment on time for a late lunch. Afterwards Kathy started with more packing while I started transferring more files. While the computer churned away moving this and that Kathy and I worked together gathering and packing more of the things we’ll be storing and piling STUFF aside that we’ll be getting rid of. The last thing we wrapped were the glass shelves to the Curio Cabinet. Due to our inability to find a plastic storage container they would fit in Kathy wrapped each shelf individually with bubble wrap then rewrapped them as a group. I finished the process by custom shaping a cardboard box to hold them all secure. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

How did a fool and his money get together in the first place?

  4. Your photos are great!

At first we thought about using a storage unit. Then when I looked at all our old furniture, I thought "hey.. when we settle down into a final home, I would want NEW stuff!" so we gave away, sold, and donated what we had. We only kept one trunk of treasures and some bins of my fibers at our son's house in his garage attic. Otherwise, we just had what we kept in the motorhome. Yes, five months later Steve's job situation changed and he didn't retire afterall. But then when we got another home, I got to pick out all new furniture that reflected the taste and style of our new house! It was a win-win and we didn't have to pay storage fees. Old stuff was "lodge/moose/pine-loghome" New stuff is "craftsman/olde-worlde/dark-wood/victorian"
