Knock! Knock! Somebody Wanted In.

Our Location today is Dade City, Florida.

Something was truly wrong when both Kathy and I slept soundly the entire night and didn’t wake until just after 7:30 this morning when we could hear a tapping sound coming from our dining room. Even after entering the room the sound continued so I started raising the Day/Night shades to check it out. The sound continued until I started moving the last shade then it suddenly stopped and there was nothing there to be seen that would create that noise.
His wings are going so fast the camera couldn't catch them.
After enjoying a relaxed breakfast and seeing a favorable weather report for the area we’ll be travelling through we thought it wise to get caught up on our blog reading for a few days. Suddenly that tapping noise we’d heard before started on the back window of the trailer. This time I slowly raised the night shade only to see the shadow of a small bird flitting up and down on the window. Opening the day shade we figured he’d take off but instead continued trying to peck his way through the glass and occasionally looking at us wondering how we’d gotten through the window. Finally after attempting to get a decent picture we finally shut the shades before he flew to another place he wanted to visit.
It didn’t take us long to secure the inside of the trailer which was my cue to start working on the outside. I started flushing and emptying the waste tanks because we’ll be dry camping for the next few days. As it was evident that we were leaving more of the neighbors came around wishing us safe travel and the wish of meeting down the road.

We weren’t in much of a hurry to leave but by the time we said departure farewells with our friends Val and Ron from Grand Bend, Ontario time was growing short. We locked up and went for a walk to say our see you later to our friends Joe and Deb Vess from Georgia that we met last year but we couldn’t find their trailer. By then it was already 81F (27 C) and Kathy was feeling the heat plus we were nearing the mandatory checkout time so we’ll just hope they are reading this post and we’ll E-mail them later.
Here it is having a rest on the bicycle cover.
As said in our post the other day the second ceramic heater (made in China) had failed so we stopped at Walmart for our refund and will look elsewhere for another that is better made.
Let me in I'm desperate.
Since Ard’s in Lakeland is closed today we planned on dry docking possibly at a Flying J. Unfortunately the GPS would not recognize the address so we just drove in the direction of Ard’s. We spotted a small Walmart that had posted signs of No Overnight Parking but across the street at Big Lots and Bells they had no problem with us spending the night. We even patronized a new Country Style Buffet where the food was good but the interior layout needs work. They are far from competing with Golden Corral.
Giving us the sad eyed look.
Kathy and I would like to welcome Geri Moore-Hajek from the blog Happy Trails as a new follower to our post. We have actually been following her blog for the last couple of years as she and Chuck travel around in the Mother Ship exploring the wonders this great land has to offer.
We’ll probably wake early tomorrow which means another hour drive before we make an early arrival at Ard’s where we’ll drop the trailer while we have another adventure of our own. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.

  5. We had the exact same thing happen at the window of our camper last summer. That little bird kept at it for several days and then was gone
