Lots of Walking and Update on Our Daughter.

Our Location today is Moore Haven, Florida.

Last night with all the roof vents and windows shut we stayed comfortable just running the cube heater. Of course I was up shortly after 7:00 even though we had a 10:00 appointment for the truck we didn’t set the alarm. Kathy said she kept on waking throughout the night but would fall back to sleep. The answer to that was because I kept tossing and turning trying to sleep which was disturbing her.
By 8:30 we were heading out the door to make the hour drive to Okeechobee to get the truck serviced. Being that this was Presidents Day made for light traffic this morning. Driving through areas we had driven just over a week ago we noted an increase in the number of cars parked near the road while their occupants were busy fishing in the Causeways.

The time was nearly 10:00 before we had finished getting our list of needs listed with Mike the Service Manager at Gilbert Ford in Okeechobee. Now we had to find something to do for the next two to three hours and we didn’t feel like sitting around so we started walking. We had a list of things we needed to look for but if we found them they would just have to stay on the shelf until we would later return with the truck.
That's a real boat and motor being used as a sign.
Our first stop was at Home Depot which was a quarter mile away. Once inside we set our sights on locating things on our list. This was where our first problem arose. Kathy searched her purse looking for the list and couldn’t find it. She then remembered leaving it on the dining table in the trailer. This is where we had to brainstorm what items we were looking for. We did strike out at Home Depot though but we did get ideas of things we could do to liven up the décor of our apartment.
Who names these places?
Our second stop was at Walmart which was another quarter mile down the road. Kathy was still feeling good so we continued our search for the things that we remembered from our list. One by one we found the items we were looking for except one article that we debated about and ended up substituting from our original idea. Of course everything we found stayed on the shelves until we returned later with the truck.

Since we’d eaten breakfast early and had been walking for nearly two hours we thought we’d split a breakfast bacon and egg submarine sandwich. We took our sweet time eating our second breakfast of the day and talked of another problem we were having. Since Kathy’s new laptop runs Windows 8.1 our printer won’t work on it so when she does our online banking in order to print out the confirmations she needs to commandeer my laptop. So the decision was made to look for a replacement printer that she can use in the trailer and at home.
Hard to tell there are groceries in that cart.
By noon we had found a wireless printer that will suit our needs and had walked the half mile back to the dealership just in time to get our truck as they had just finished all the work on it. When we got back to Walmart we simply retraced our steps knowing exactly where everything was located in the store. The only thing that slowed us down was the store was now packed with Presidents Day Sale shoppers. Would you believe they had all the cashiers open and Bill the store manager was manning the one we went through.

Back at the trailer we sat outside just to calm down before having our supper. Kathy prepped the Chow Chow and Potato Salad inside while I grilled a nice Farmer’s Sausage on the Weber Q. After supper we walked over to Elaine and Rick’s to return the folding table they had loaned us because we bought one today. They had company when we arrived so we thanked them for the use of the table and walked back to the trailer. All of today’s walking finally caught up to Kathy.

I forgot to mention the Strawberry Short Cake for dessert.
I had another errand to walk so while I did that Kathy was able to call our daughter’s and talk with our son-in-law Greg. He explained the Neurologist had told Karen six weeks and him six plus weeks before she’d be going back to work and he discussed the extent of her injury with him. Greg and granddaughter Kylla have been pulling together around the house so that Karen can just relax and heal as much as possible. He also explained the mystery about the quick connection to the phone answering system which helped put Kathy at ease.

Tomorrow we have a bunch of things planned but then again they are all written in Jello! Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

  1. Gosh, you did well without a list! So glad to hear your daughter is taking care of herself.
