Electrical Delays and Gas Prices Climbing.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

After having too many restless nights in a row, I added an extra kick to my Nighttime Mickey. It didn’t work any better and my body still wanted to play catch up later in the morning. That was until I heard pounding on our Apartment Door.

I keep mentioning how the New Building Management Company continues to change things in the building. This Company does this as an Investment but expects a high return which means severely raising the Rents. Presently we are fortunately Grandfathered in, that limits our increases, and our Utilities, Water and Electric are part of the Rent. They are now charging Rent to new tenants, that would be charged in Big Cities such as Toronto, where salaries are much higher.

The workers probably looked through the Privacy Lens in our door and saw no lights, so went banging on someone else’s door. We sat in low light to have breakfast, since it was Raining outside. We dressed before opening up to another round of pounding. The Electrician claimed he’d only be Ten Minutes this morning then Twenty Minutes this afternoon. It worked out to an Hour this morning and nearly Two Hours this afternoon.

We had a 3:00 appointment for haircuts at Fantastic Sam’s and had to call Julia when we were Ten Minutes out to say we were coming. The building she lives in, did the same thing recently. We felt much better after she reduced our hat sizes.

There had been Severe Thunderstorms forecasted for the Windsor area at 3:00. We were barely inside when it started coming down. By the time Julia had finished there was only a Drizzle coming down.

Since it was bumper to bumper Rush-Hour Traffic, we stopped at Pita Pit to have a Healthy Fast-Food experience. While we were enjoying our meal the Rain came down harder than before. It slowed to a lighter Rain as we were leaving, but it was enough that I dropped Kathy at the front entrance to the building.

Because of the Rain, we had driven straight home. On the 6 o’clock Local News they reported that motorists could expect a Twenty Cents a Litre ($.756 US Gallon) increase at the pumps starting tomorrow morning. As soon as the News was over, we took the Car to the Pioneer gas station to fill up. That turned into saving $8.00 over tomorrow’s price and it got us out of the Apartment one more time for the day.

When we got home, I taped a note on the door saying “We don’t get up until 9:00. Please don’t knock earlier.” Let’s see if that works.

Want to hear a joke about construction?

Never mind, I’m still working on it.

  1. I hope they aren't going to make you pay for your electricity now? Landlord and Tenant Board is your friend if they do.
