Making Good Food, Visits From Curious Neighbours and Making Progress.

Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

Getting to bed before midnight does have its own benefits like getting up before the Sun. That of course does not mean that your partner who needs more sleep and has not been getting it for the last few days will react the same way.
Predawn this morning.
Even after having breakfast and doing our morning chores, with the cooler temperatures I wasn’t in the mood to go outside. When Kathy said she was planning on using up things in the Freezer before we head south I volunteered to help. With Kathy working on one side of the kitchen island making Turkey Wraps from the last bit of our Turkey for lunch, I was on the other side cubing a Frozen Steak and chopping Onions and Peppers for supper. As usual the Wraps were delicious and filling. Before I headed out the door Kathy already had the ingredients for tonight’s Pepper Steak in the Crock Pot
I find cubing the Steak while Frozen easier.
It took a bit of time to gather the Materials and Tools together. It took a few more minutes to figure out whether Plan A or B would work the best but would you believe it was Plan C that won out. Today I needed to modify the Bicycle Carrier so that it could carry our new Non-Folding Tandem Bicycle. I had to create a couple Wings outside of the existing Carrier to support the Bicycle Wheels. as well as protection for the Indicator/Driving Lights mounted on the Carrier. Not having the proper sized Materials or Work-Bench that would make the project easy you learn to work with what you have.

By not having a Cutting Torch on hand I used a Cutting Wheel on a Hand Grinder. The noise however does attract attention and the next thing you know neighbours are coming to see what you are up to.
Using the Cutting Wheel.
Stan was the first to arrive but after I told him what I was doing he was more interested in our Solar Panels and how it worked. Guess it takes repeating it over again before people get it. Stan was complaining about his $900.00 electric bill for the Season but his wife runs the A.C. in the trailer all the time but leaves the upstairs Windows open so their dogs can look outside. They also leave their Propane Water Heater on all the time. We’ve tried coaching them but at 80 years old they are stuck in their ways.
Welding on the Bicycle Carrier.
A short while later Hugh showed up wondering what I was doing. He was impressed but then was wondering if we were going over to his place for Happy Hour today. Not Today! Hugh is 84 and very knowledgeable but after losing his wife a few years back enjoys visiting.

It was nearly 5:00 when Kathy called me in for supper. The Pepper Steak served on a bed of Rice with Shredded Cheeses on top was Delicious and there’s enough for another meal. Kathy unfortunately got stuck doing the dishes by herself today because as soon as I finished eating I was right back outside.
Today's Sunset here in the park.
I managed to get the Wings welded on and cleaned up just as the Sun was setting. Tomorrow I’ll drill a couple of Drainage Holes so Rain will flow through. Then once the Carrier is painted it can be installed on the rear of the trailer. The clock is ticking and there is still plenty to do but it is getting there. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

  1. You two have certainly been busy, the last few days, ticking things of your to do list. I am sure it will be a nice feeling pulling out and knowing everything is done. Looking forward to reading about your travels and still hoping to cross paths again down the road.
