Our Location today is La Posa South LTVA,
Quartzsite, Arizona, U.S.A.
On Friday night Kathy had a
hard time falling to sleep so it was not an issue when she wanted to go to bed
earlier than normal last night to make up for that lost sleep. Having already drained
my Laptop Battery to a critical
level and the Wind was still Howling around outside the trailer the
only practical thought was that bedtime sounded good.
Our morning Sunshine. |
I fell asleep almost
instantly and less then three hours later I was staring at the ceiling. I tried
a number of things to fall back to sleep but after two hours just went and sat
in my chair in the living room so as not to disturb Kathy. Thinking that would
help calm me down proved to work against me. Even after taking two Extra
Strength Tylenol my mind started racing. I finally managed to go back to sleep
after 5:00 MST only to be staring at
the ceiling again before 7:00 this morning.
Our morning forecast. Second line from bottom are Wind Gusts. |
When that happens the only
thing that will work is get out of bed and start my day on less than five hours
of broken sleep. I had all the window shades raised though the Sun would only make a full appearance
sometime later in the afternoon. I had everything ready for breakfast but waited
for Kathy to join me after 8:30 before we ate. I even solved a few more Cryptograms before she came downstairs.
See the shadow of the mountains heading north to Parker. |
After we ate breakfast we
finally turned on the Main Inverter
because the Sun was barely charging
the Batteries due to the heavy cloud
cover. With the threat of higher Wind
Gusts for this afternoon we made plans to calm ourselves down.
By 11:30 we were on our way
to Parker
for an afternoon out. Since we haven’t watched television since we left McGregor
in November we chose to go to the Movies.
After grabbing a Whopper at Burger King for our lunch, we drove to the Theater
over by the Casino.
As we were about to get our tickets I noticed Kathy’s choice was a SiFi which she doesn’t like so much so
we made a quick change of plan as to what we saw.
We saw The Shack and both gave it Two
Thumbs Up. It is an Emotional
Roller-Coaster that will have you questioning what you believe, why you
believe that, how you believed it in the first place and possibly what you have
to do to change your beliefs. It is well worth seeing and when the movie ended
nearly everyone stayed to see the credits.
Look how green the desert has gotten from all the rain we've had. |
When we left the Movie Theater there was something bright in the sky that we
hoped was shining on our Solar Panels back
in Quartzsite.
We were also getting hit with high Wind
Gusts that left a Gritty taste
in your mouth from the sand it was picking off the desert floor.
We stopped at Walmart to
do some general shopping. Kathy needed new hiking shoes, I needed new jeans and
we needed some groceries. Not getting everything we needed there, we went
across the road to Dollar General where
we found everything else but a mixing spoon. Since it was already past 5:30 we
crossed the parking lot to have supper at Taco Bell.
The Digital Display Board over the highway as we were leaving Parker
warned of High Gusty Winds up to Thirty-Five MPH and Blowing Sand ahead. Since the Wind was coming out of the South having a good grip on the
steering wheel was only necessary for the first few miles. The taste of sand
was still in the air as we neared our destination.
Heading south towards Quartzsite Blowing sand hiding the mountains. |
We arrived Home
just after the Sun slipped behind
the mountains. It took a few trips to get everything inside and unpacked.
Tomorrow the Sun will be back with
little Wind but Cooler Temperatures. With things to do here before we head off to Tucson
we still plan on doing more exploring. Thanks for following along and feel free
to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!
It’s about time.

You Might Be a Redneck If
You're using a beach towel as an area rug.
Those Burger King Whoppers are sure good.
ReplyDeleteMay you have many sunny days.
Those high winds are just to ensure you get to take some of Quartzsite's dust home with you as a souvenir! :cD
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed The Shack. We need more of these kinds of films. I'm afraid young Americans are losing out because of the trash Hollywood spews out.
ReplyDeleteWhen we pulled out onto 95, late yesterday afternoon, to head in for Mass we could really see the dust in the air. Tom and I were just talking about when we were here last year, around the same time, and it was really windy then, also. Enjoy your exploring.
