Our Location today is La Posa South LTVA,
Quartzsite, Arizona, U.S.A.
Last night I don’t even
remember my head hitting the pillow and I was asleep nor do I remember even
turning over through the night. That’s probably why I was up by 7:30 Arizona
Time getting things ready for breakfast. It was only minutes later that Kathy
was getting up saying that she’d slept like a rock. We may be inside the
trailer but the only thing not open on it at night is our door. With all the Coyotes prowling around the area we don’t
need to find one inside raiding our refrigerator or worse chewing on our toes.
While we sat having
breakfast our neighbours Wayne and Sue left with another truck load of things
they are storing in a trailer here in Quartzsite for the summer. Seeing that told us
the next time they came back it wouldn’t take too long for them to finish
packing and be on their way. As soon as we finished eating it was a dash at
getting dressed and our inside chores finished.
The Cloudy Sky didn’t look too promising in fact Kathy thought that it
was about to Rain any minute. Using a
few minutes before going outside I called Discount Solar so
they would hold the two LED Waffle
boards that I want to add to our outside Security
Lights. They said they had plenty but I insisted they put them aside with
my name on them.
As soon as Wayne and Sue were
back we went and bade them Safe Travels
and that we’d be seeing them in the fall. We had a chance for a quick talk about
a few other things including giving them our Contact Information but Wayne was so exhausted from the heat he
forgot to give me his. I’m sure that when he reads this he’ll E-mail the information to me. We left
so they could finish closing up and get underway without further disturbance.
The desert is really
starting to Bloom so we had a chance
to get a few pictures on our way back to our trailer. Kathy went back to making
her notes of the places we’ll be stopping inside while I returned to emptying
the basement again. The last few days we’ve been hearing our Water Pump cycling periodically when we
are not using the Faucets. Yesterday
I just happen to notice a drop of water dripping from a Low Point Drain. Thinking that I might have accidentally touched a
valve while working on the wiring I would have to correct it.
Minimizing what I took out
of the basement and only opening the access door to the valves was a waste of
time because whatever I touched only increased the dripping. I ended up
removing the entire rear wall again to get to the valves. I’ve mentioned in the
past how RV
Manufactures use the cheapest
materials to cut cost. When I looked at the valves I could see the “O” Ring starting to appear at the
upper edge of the valve. By simply pushing down on the top the Stem it reseated itself in the Valve Body and the drip stopped. If we
hadn’t had that drip the valve could have popped apart and caused water damage
to the basement and sprayed the Electrical
System. Those valves will be replaced when we get back to McGregor.
Even though it was extra work by moving things around that also gave me the
chance to clean and reorganize the basement.
Just as Kathy was calling
me in for lunch Wayne and Sue pulled out of their site for the last time this
season but we’ll be seeing them in the fall.
Since we had plans to have
supper out Kathy kept lunch light by making Pancakes and Bacon. It tasted
great as usual and wasn’t over filling but gave us enough energy to see us
through the afternoon.
Back outside we walked
across the wash to the Stone Map
that is quite impressive. Our past pictures didn’t do it justice so this time
we brought along our Step-Ladder. Kathy
stabilized the ladder while I took multiple pictures from different locations
but it seemed the point and shoot camera had a mind of its own either that or
we’ll have to get a taller ladder.
I finished getting the Fresh Water Barrel, the Blue-Boy and the Tandem Bike tarped over on the back of the trailer as well as finishing
getting my tools put away where they should be.
Shortly after 2:00 we drove
into Quartzsite
with a list of things that I had to pick up. The first stop was the same Seasonal Vendor I went to the other day to pick up a piece of Red Heat Shrink. Kathy even looked
around but with the hot air inside the tent she didn’t stay long.
Kathy stayed in the truck
with all the windows down while I went into Discount Solar where they had put my LEDs aside for me.
Someone had come in just after lunch and had purchased twenty of them but they
said those two were reserved. I’m glad that I insisted!
Since we’ll be pulling out
in the morning we stopped at the Chevron Gas Station and topped up on Diesel. It is a pain since we can’t use
our Auxiliary Fuel Tank. Can’t wait
to get it repaired.
It was only 3:30 when we
arrived at the Main
Street Diner to have supper. We enjoy
the Atmosphere, the Food, the Service and it’s Reasonably Priced.
We were a little early for the Dinner
Menu but Michelle said we were right on time. Of all the Restaurants that we’ve eaten in Quartzsite this
is our favourite. Talking with Michelle we learned that their last date of
business is April 15th
when they shut everything down for the summer and don’t come back until September 15th and there are
a lot of the other businesses that do the same. She wished us Safe Travels and we said we’d see her
in the fall.
We got Home around 4:30 and the inside of
the trailer was 95 F (35 C) so it was a no-brainer that we
sat outside where there was a cool breeze. While Kathy was reading her book, I prepped
the back of the truck for towing the trailer in the morning and gathered our Firewood over at our Firepit.
It was at this point that
the clouds really started clearing out and we started seeing
the Sun. We enjoyed our
books but as the Sun neared the Horizon before it set I secured the Solar Panels on the roof for traveling.
Kathy had moved our chairs
near the Firepit and as soon as I was
back on the ground we started our Campfire.
We both are Campers at heart and
find this so relaxing. It helps us figure things out and helps us to relax. It
is also the time when you can look directly overhead and see a sky filled with
thousands of stars however there was no Moon.
We stayed out until 8:30 when our fire was dying and the Coyotes were howling but not a sign of the Moon.
Tomorrow we’ll be stopping
in Yuma before
continuing towards Tucson but
we’ll be taking our time. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe
and Enjoy!
It’s about time.
Krackers
Ask a silly question:
If you are supposed to learn from your mistakes,
why do some people get married more than once?
There is nothing more relaxing than sitting around a campfire 😊 Safe travels to Tucson.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a busy couple of days. Tom and I were glad we got back this way and were able to stop by and talk one last time before you and Kathy had left. Enjoy your time in Tucson. Safe Travels.
