Another Wake-Up Call, Filling The Fresh Water Tank and A Perfect Night For A Campfire.

Our Location today is La Posa South LTVA, Quartzsite, Arizona, U.S.A.

We were both sleeping quite nicely last night until Kathy’s phone started ringing at 7:05 MST this morning. Of course the phone rang just long enough to wake us up and then stopped. We did manage to fall back to sleep for a few more minutes of rest. The other day a person kept calling insisting that his friend had given him our number so it had to be right. After Kathy gave him the what for that his friend wasn’t at this number he didn’t call back. Seems like his friend must have called this morning as the Call-Log came up as an Unlisted Number. Even though we leave the phones on at night in case there is an Emergency Call from back home we’ll be turning the ringer off before we go to bed from now on.
Because our sleep had been disturbed we got up just after 8:00. It felt chilly inside the trailer but then I found that one of the windows had been open all night it helped to bring things in prospective. Feeling the warmth of the Sun on the windows by the table we started seeing people walking their pets only wearing Shorts, T-shirts and Sandals we began opening the rest of windows. The temperature was already 54 F (12 C) but it felt warmer.
Blackberry Covered Yogurt and Shredded Cheese over Homemade Chili.
Besides doing our normal morning reading on the Computers we had a few other things to check on. Kathy is still planning our return trip back to Ontario but just not booking anyplace keeping our plans flexible. By the time we finished our other morning chores we decided to have an early lunch. Kathy heated up the last of her Homemade Chilli while I made our Blackberry covered Yogurt with a dollop of Cool Whip for added taste.
After enjoying our meal I was about to go outside to work in the Basement when Kathy discovered she didn’t have enough water to clean the dishes. As I mentioned the other day it seems the Overflow on our Fresh Water Tank creates a Syphoning Effect and we probably set the trailer up with less then twenty gallons of Fresh Water in the tank. That meant a change in my plans where I had to take our Fresh Water Barrel off the back of the trailer and go fill it.
I had brought our Water Filters to make certain the water going in the barrel was clean but I had to go all the way back to the trailer first. Our hoses have Quick Disconnects that are specially designed for RVs. When we are in a park I install our Pressure Regulator on the Hose Bibs and it also has the Quick Disconnect. Somehow it was not with the filters which meant it was where I put it when we pulled in last Wednesday. After working my way back to the front of the line again I was able to fill our barrel. Surprisingly even with less RVs in the area the water pressure was low.
Having worn jeans with plans at working in the basement I was being cooked while filling the Barrel and pumping it into the trailer. Not wanting to see the water overflowing to the ground as soon as I saw the water gauge showing the tank as being Two-Thirds I stopped the fill. At that point I had to go inside to cool down. A check of The Weather Network showed the temperature to be 77 F (25 C) but the Sun made it feel much warmer.
It was too hot to start emptying the basement so that will be done in the morning and the Computer reading in the afternoon. With that change of plan I added the additional Spring Hinges to the cabinet door we had modified in Shipshewana back in November. The way that Wayne had modified the doors they would not remain up in the open position without the use of a small turn-latch that he installed. That device always had me worried that it would split the Face-Board on the Cabinet. I hoped the additional hinges would do the trick but it was not to be. The next option will be to locate proper gas cylinders to support the door.

We needed the Printer set up once again so that we could print up the newest Parking Passes for the upcoming Escapade that we’ll be attending in Tucson in another nine days.
Asparagus and Meat Pie done on the grill.
Kathy had recently heard how some people have been cooking store bought Meat Pies on their Weber Q’s. She put them in a metal pie plate which I set to one end of the grill while grilling some nice Asparagus on the other end. It was a little tight but everything turned out great and the pies had the smoky flavour of the grill.
Our Fourth Campfire of the winter,

As soon as we finished cleaning the dishes I headed outside to set up the Firepit. We are both campers at heart and we have only had three Campfires this entire winter season. Since we have Firewood that we cannot bring back to Ontario with us and the temperature was comfortable we decided this would be the perfect night for Campfire number four.

Sun Reflecting off the mountains in front of us.

We had the fire started shortly after 6:00 and were really enjoying it. This also is a time of reflection and brainstorming that helps us to work out things we need to do. Just around 6:30 we noticed the changing colours on the mountains in front of us and when we turned around we were given an even bigger treat. It’s not often we get to see beautiful Sunsets like this.
Kathy enjoying our latest Campfire.
Once the Sun had completely disappeared we still enjoyed the Fire but we also had a different show that was being put on by a nearly Full Moon and thousands of Stars that were filling the sky. It was just before 9:00 when the last of the fire turned to glowing embers.
Untouched photo of our Sunset.
With the daytime temperatures finally on the rise I’ll try to get the outdoor jobs done in the mornings and work on the Computer in the afternoon. We also have a few other things we need to do so stay tuned. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

  1. You might want to print out the seminar schedule in advance. There's so many classes, you'll have to pick and choose.
