Forgetful Day, Fire Alarm In Walmart, Trying To Learn and Rocking Entertainment.

Our Location today is Pima County Fairgrounds, Tucson, Arizona, U.S.A.

Just after posting the Blog last night as we sat in our Comfy Chairs in our living room area the Coyotes sounded like they were having a convention outside our windows. Then there was a disagreement on what was being discussed and a couple of them started going at it. What did these guys do follow us from Quartzsite where the same thing happened and they literally bounced off the lower edge of the trailer. As soon as we started shutting the lower windows down the ruckus broke up and everything went quiet again.
The warm daytime air also has an affect on our sleeping. Since it really is too warm to shut the windows we must lay in bed at least a half minute before falling asleep. Kathy sleeps so soundly she continues to sleep through the pre-6:00 a.m. Coyote Serenade. It is like they welcome the Moon in the evening and after carousing around hunting all night have to welcome the Sun before heading off to sleep.
I had everything waiting for breakfast and had finished a few Cryptograms before Kathy made it downstairs. There was barely any breeze as we discussed what we’d be doing today as we ate. We took the time to check our E-mails before getting ready to go into Tucson.

Our destination today was to the closest Ace Hardware on East 22nd Street. When we bought our Max-Air Vent Fan the vendor recommended using Plumbers Putty instead of using Dicor Sealer between it and the roof. The main reason is that it is a fraction of the cost and if done properly will outlast the Dicor.

I also managed to pick up the remainder of the Stainless-Steel Carriage Bolts that I’ll use when modifying the Brackets for our Solar Panels. Presently it takes just over ten minutes to raise and lower our six Panels using a single Nut-Driver. With a modification to the brackets that I just made in December the time should be less then three minutes without any tools to raise or lower those same Panels. When I was about to go to the checkout I realized that I had forgotten my wallet back Home in the trailer. Luckily Kathy had her card with her so it wasn’t an issue.
On our way back to the Pima County Fairgrounds we stopped at Panda Express for a tasty Chinese Food meal. We both needed to walk lunch off when we were done eating so we headed over to the Walmart Super Store. I dropped Kathy by the door because of the heat before going to park. When I walked into the store there was a Fire Alarm and an announcement for the customers to leave the store, and she was heading back outside. Within a few minutes, customers were allowed back inside and the issue was resolved. We looked at this and that and once we felt comfortable we continued our trip back to the Escapade.
We wanted to check a few more things with the Vendors so I dropped Kathy off by Thurber Hall near a shaded park bench before going to park the truck back at our site. When you attend an Escapade the one thing that you never leave behind is your Credentials or you will be denied going in the Vendors Area, into Seminars or even the General Membership Gathering and Entertainment Venues. When we left this morning we both had them but after I walked back to Kathy’s location she swore it was in the trailer. Even after I suggested it was in her purse she insisted it was back at the trailer.
It seemed there were no Courtesy Shuttles available when I needed one. I was within Two Hundred Feet of our trailer on the Hot Asphalt when my phone started ringing. The first words I heard were “I’m Sorry” from Kathy saying she had just found her Credentials in one of the pockets in her purse. By the time I walked back in the 93 F (34 C) heat I had to sit. Even drinking my water wasn’t helping me recover. Just about then a Courtesy Shuttle came along and brought us over to the Old Pueblo Hall and the Vendors area.

Today I was the one that appreciated the Air Conditioning. We stopped to pick up a couple of Window Decals that we ordered yesterday. We also purchased a Fiber Cloth and Swivel Head that I can use to clean our Solar Panels while standing on the ground. We also made another purchase that we had discussed. Stopping in the Hospitality Area we were treated to a complimentary bag of Popcorn and another free cup of Coffee that helped to quench our thirst.

We attended a seminar in Thurber Hall about Free Camping. Most of what was presented I already knew about and Kathy is even more informed about it then I am. Yet there were many seasoned RVers that didn’t have a clue that these types of opportunities existed.
With five Lead Singers (including the Drummer) they hit every song Perfectly.
Back Home we had Hamburgers for supper and just relished the 23 MPH wind gusts that were blowing through our open windows to cool us off. We also had a chance to spend time on the Computers where I prewrote most of Tonight’s Blog.
By 7:00 we were back at Thurber Hall where more Door Prizes were given away. Another Rule to these Escapades is you have to be present to win. We made certain to be there on time just in case our names might be drawn. Again a lot of Redraws because people weren’t there when their tickets were drawn for these wonderful gifts.
Tonight’s entertainment was by Woodie and the Longboards a Revival Group that spent the first part of the evening playing all time favourites by the Beach Boys and then after a short intermission they came back performing Chicago. You would have sworn that you were at a live concert. During the more than two dozen songs that were played many of the seats were empty and every bit of available floor space filled with people dancing. There will be a lot of stiff bodies tomorrow.
It was another Great Day at the 57th Escapade and there are still three days to go. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.

  4. I was in our local Walmart today and they had a fire alarm also. Although you could barely understand the PA system asking folks to leave, without using the elevators. I have never seen the elevators. Not many folks were leaving, I was on my way out anyway so I hit the automatic checkout and headed out. No sign of smoke or fire trucks around though.
