Our Location today is Crystal
River, Florida.
This is not the way it is suppose to happen. I was awake by 6:00 up by 7:00
and Kathy followed suit before 8:00.
We’re in Florida on vacation from
the cold and winter conditions that are happening back home. We should be able
to sleep in but we’re up before the sun. Could it be the night time lows in the
upper 50’s or the daytime highs in the low 80’s that are beckoning us to spend
as many wakeful hours as possible enjoying the sun. It was at first very
different to believe that this is real and not a dream swimming in January,
walking around in summer wear we could get used to this very easily. We most
certainly are enjoying it.
We finished our Strawberry covered waffle breakfast and by 9:30 I had turned on the AC to cool the inside
of the trailer before I headed outside to finish a few more chores. When we had
to have the fridge in the outdoor kitchen replaced because of the door hinges
failing I had noted a serious flaw in the design. The hinges were too light and
with any bouncing and jarring the fridge absorbed while the trailer was
traveling down the road would again cause this unit to fail. The fridge also
could twist on the spot because there was only one bracket to hold it in place.
The chore was to cut the piece of wood that I had purchased
at Lowes the other day and create a stop so the fridge could not twist and
another piece to support the door. Making the piece to go behind was easy
remove the fridge and measure the length of wood needed. Next screw it in place
and reinstall the fridge. Now I needed to measure the thickness of material I needed
and rip the length of material I had using a 12 inch handsaw. Remember the 80
degree weather I mentioned earlier well combine that with the manual work of
that sort that I haven’t done in awhile and it sure made for a sweat producing
job. Now with it complete we won’t have to worry about any further damage to
our fridge.
After lunch Kathy and I enjoyed sitting outside in the shade
listening to the birds singing. We were enjoying popcorn outside when we had a
squirrel visit us and after receiving a single popped kernel was satisfied and
left. I caught site of movement in a nearby site to see a large turtle making a
meal of any green grass he could find. At first he froze but when he saw we where
only taking his picture he just kept on eating and ignored us and eventually disappeared
under the undergrowth. Seeing him was quite a treat.
After enjoying barbecued hamburgers with broccoli and pasta
salad we headed over to the swimming pool for our last night here. Again we met
a couple we spoke with the other night and enjoyed their company once again. Linda and Jerry are also here in Florida
for the winter and are not missing the winter weather they are having back home
in Colorado.
Tonight I am hoping that our pictures will post as I have
been writing feed back to blogger about my photo problems and it looks like
they might have been listening. Thanks for following along and feel free to
leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!
It’s about time.

Your pictures look good. Looks like a good-sized turtle! Nice of him to visit.
ReplyDeleteCome to Arizona, I will guarantee that you won't need to turn on the AC to cool your rig.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your warm weather while its there and hopefully does not get to cool.
ReplyDeleteIsn't this the life???? I am glad you are enjoying Florida as much as we are. I think it is wonderful that you are so handy and can make modification upgrades. I can only hope one day Bob will once again be able to do that for us.

We were asking about you yesterday at the Tampa RV Show, thought we'd see you at the gathering. Maybe we'll meet up before long.
