Errands and Reasons.

Our Location today is at Windsor, Ontario.

We don’t know what happen as we were both in bed before Midnight last night but we both slept until 9:00 this morning. With the Sun shining through wispy Clouds it invigorated us to get things done.

After having Minestrone Soup for lunch along with the last of the Pineapple and a few Cookies for dessert we were soon on our way out the door.

We had a few stops to make so we didn’t spend more time then we needed at each one. Our first stop was Fabric Land where they had a Security Guard regulating the number of customers in at once as well as making certain you were wearing a Mask. Nobody minds because they are keeping the number of Coronavirus Cases down compared to places that are not using them. We found what we needed and were leaving in under Five Minutes.

Next we stopped at Guardian Storage to get our Mail. A bit further up the road we stopped at the Pioneer gas station where Gasoline was finally under a $1.00 per Litre.

That Mask is big enough to make a Hat.

At Dollarama we got a few more food stocks but could not find what I was looking for.

We tried across the street at the Supper Walmart where we found a few more $5.00 Movies we’ll watch when we can’t find anything else to view. Again I did not find what I was looking for.

Finally we tried Canadian Tire where I finally found what I was looking for but I’m going to leave you wait until the weekend to find out what it is.

Back at the Apartment we had a few chores to take care of before eating. Kathy made Hot Beef Sandwiches from last night’s roast along with an Acorn Squash for our supper and the last of the Date Squares for dessert.

We saw a couple more Coronavirus Cases locally today and that we could be facing another Federal Election in Canada soon on the 6 o’clock Local News but everything else seemed to be positive news

On Sunday night’s Blog I wrote about watching a program on CNN called “The Insiders” where a number of high ranking career officials that had left the administration are speaking out against President Trump. These were well educated people of Rank and Power that had served under both Republican and Democratic Administrations. A few of the Comments made on that Blog have left me no choice but to explain why I am making note of these things.

Canada has plenty of its own political problems (The WE Scandal, our wet behind the ears PM and a few others) but those only involve wasted Tax Payers Monies. Those could get someone kicked out of office but it is not like what is happening south of the border. We still have discrimination in Canada but not to the extent that you have to fear walking down the street because of the colour of your skin even in States that abut our International Boundaries.

Being a Canadian Citizen I’ve often been told that I should not make any statements regarding US Politics even though many American Citizens have commented about our Canadian Politicians many times. The fact that we have always lived within miles of the International Border to Michigan. The fact that both myself and Kathy have dozens of relatives that are US Citizens. The fact that early after graduating from High School I considered becoming a US Citizen. The fact that my Late Wife was born on a Military Base in the state of Texas. The fact that I often travelled in the US visiting with her Family in different States. The fact that long before meeting Kathy I used to often travel to the US on my own. The fact that as RVers we have helped to boost the American Economy as we travel in the US. The fact that as a Blood Donor I do not hesitate to roll up my sleeve whatever side of the border I’m on.

What really surprises me is that it seems that many American Citizens cannot see things as Americans but only by their political affiliations yet there are others who understand that we are all in this together. The fact that things that happen in the United States affects what happens in Canada has always had me looking at what happens in the US. It seems that seeing it from a distance makes me see things many cannot.

I have often admired many of the Presidents from both the Republican and Democratic Parties because they pushed forth ideas that would be beneficial to everyone not just the Corporations or the Top One Percent who could care less about saving on their Taxes. When was the last time you only paid $750.00 in Federal Income Taxes in a year. While I was still working full time I was paying that every week.

Days following the 2016 Presidential Election Kathy and I were on our way to the southwest to spend our first winter as Fulltimers. We were walking outside a grocery store in Texas when we were approached by a man who placed his hand on his Holstered 45 and asked “What do you all think of our New President”? We said we were Canadians and didn’t talk politics and just kept walking. Strangely Five Months Later we had another man repeat that same question to us while we were attending an Escapee’s Rally in Tucson, Arizona again placing his hand on his Sidearm.

We always try to give people the benefit of the doubt but what we have been witnessing on different Networks and Media Outlets leaves us no other choice but try and open people’s eyes as to the deceit directly in front of them. We personally have nothing to gain by saying this except to protect our Friends and Relatives who are US Citizens.

A Blog is meant to be a Personal Journal so we can look back at what we did in years to come. Like many others we opened it up for others to enjoy and possibly share experiences from it. Since those Comments the other night were attacks on what we watch then that allows me to relate more of what we have seen, read and noted.

God Bless America.” Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.

Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.

  1. You are right about the Canada - United States relationship Rick. America's relationship with Canada and other allies is fractured. America needs leaders who will build back our standing and credibility with our allies.

  3. I guess the thing is you shouldn't believe everything you see on television any more. The amount actually paid was in the millions, the $750 was an extension fee while his taxes are audited. I'm an accountant ... it happens all the time. It used to be the news was actually presented truthfully for you to decide what you think. Now it's presented to you as what they think your opinion should be, by practically every single network. Sadly, there are lots of untruths out there from both sides.

    1. Thanks for putting the facts out there Nancy. If the entire article in the NYT was read it would acknowledge this.

    2. Agreed! Thank you for your post. I get tired of Canadians posting misinformation abut our country, like people are afraid to walk down the streets because of their color. What really turned me off was when we got called racist because we didn't like Obama. I've had enough.

    3. “An audit definitely can drag out,” said Francine Lipman, a law professor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and a certified public accountant. “But not 10 years. That doesn’t pass the smell test.”

  5. Very well put Rick and Kathy. I think as foreigners you can see things more objectively. I am neither a Republican, nor a Democrat, but an Independent, and I have been so all my life.

America is so polarized and more so now. Trump followers believe everything he tweets out and only watch State TV (Fox News) and disparage other networks or the evidence that is right in front of them.

I am so sorry you had to be approached the way you were while you were in the United States.
