Watching Sales, Stocking A Bit and More Cases.

Our Location today is at Windsor, Ontario.

Kathy once again slept like a rock while I had a few more restful moments then the night before. I had nearly finished getting things ready for breakfast when Kathy joined me this morning. We talked of what we needed to do today before moving to the Computers.

Between our reading and morning chores we spent time doing inventory of our food stocks. Even though we have slightly built a small stock pile of Canned Goods we want to replenish what we have been using because if a Second Wave of the Coronavirus returns we won’t worry about empty shelves like back in April.

For lunch I modified a Garden Salad by adding Chopped Celery, Onion and Peppers seasoned with Zesty Italian Dressing then topped off with Shredded Cheese. It was so filling that after we added an Apple Sauce Cup for dessert we were stuffed.

We let our lunch settle before heading out the door wearing our Masks. The high temperature for the day was feeling like 72 F (22 C) but with the Wind gusting to Thirty MPH we needed to wear our jackets to feel comfortable.

Our first stop was the Tecumseh Mall where we went to Showcase. Since the start of the Virus when we see PPE go “On Sale” we’ve been picking some up. Today they were offering Reusable Masks, Face Shields and Hand Sanitizer at 70% off regular price.

Our next stop was at Dollarama to pick up whatever we could from our Grocery List. As I’ve mentioned before the prices we pay for food at Dollarama are Half of what we would pay at the grocery store. I’ve also mentioned that we have not even celebrated our Canadian Thanksgiving and their shelves are filled with Christmas Decorations.

We finally drove over to Zehr’s grocery store to finish getting the rest of the food on our List. Each time we were walking by something we had bought at Dollarama I would simply point out the price on the shelf. That would cause Kathy to stop and shake her head knowing we had stretched our food budget by doing.

One thing we have not seen in a long time besides the nearly bare shelves where the Paper Products were but the length of the Check-Out Line. Today the line stretched half way across the front of the store and all the way down the Cereal Aisle down to the Dairy Cases. At one point I counted Forty People waiting to get to the cashiers.

With Frozen Foods in our Car we headed straight home. I brought one of the largest Shopping Carts from downstairs out to the parking lot to bring everything into our Apartment.

It was past 5:00 by the time we had everything put away and our lunch Salads had worn off so it was time to cook supper. We had picked up an extra Store Bought Thin Crust Pizza for exactly that reason. It’s the first time we’ve had a Beef Taco Pizza. It was tasty but a little too spicy for Kathy.

Watching the 6 o’clock Local News we are looking at more moderate weather heading our way. A couple more Coronavirus Cases among students one in High School and the other in Elementary School. They also mentioned that we can watch tomorrow night’s Vice-Presidential Debate right after the Local News.

We might do things tomorrow. Thank you for following along and feel free to leave a comment.

Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.

  1. Nice to keep stocked up although we do that on a regular basis. I didn't mean to shop for so much yesterday and came home with sale items anyway! :)
It was a lovely day, too bad for that strong wind though.

  2. My parents believed in being well stocked so I've always tried to keep a good supply of everything. Hard to do in a trailer but we can go a couple of months if we had to.

  3. Our stores were only out of paper products for a short time. We've been well stocked for months now. Always a good idea to keep canned goods in the cupboard.

  4. I seldom grocery shop. Hate it. Therefore it's Walmart pickup, Omaha steaks and Purdue chicken, etc. delivered to the door. And once again started Misfit Markets delivery for fruit and veggies. But I am having issues getting Clorox wipes at Walmart. Guess, I too, will be stopping at a Dollar General and hope they have a stock. Oh, and when we are in PA/MD area we go to Hanover, PA where there are lots of outlets. We bring home cases of Hanover Foods products: kidney beans, soups, chicken stock, black eye peas, etc. Racks in basement sometimes look like a store.

  5. We've got some stocked up, think it's a good idea anyway as you never know when even weather could keep you home. The lines are crazy in that store! The pizza looks yummy!
