Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario,
Canada.
With all
the fresh air that we had while working on the patio extension neither of us
had any problem sleeping last night. What we had was a problem with was waking
up which again pointed to all the fresh air we had while working on the patio
extension. When we finally woke up our stiff bodies told us that it has been a
while since we’ve done that kind of work and hopefully it would be the last
time.
While we
were finishing breakfast our son Gary called wishing Kathy a Happy Mother’s day.
We then spent enough time on the computers to get caught up on our morning
reading of blogs and E-mails with more wishes before getting ready to head out.
First we stopped at the McGregor Mini-Mart
which also is the local gas station. It had been over a month and the gas gauge
was under the quarter tank. That was when I realized we had left in such a
hurry this morning my wallet was still back home. Thank goodness Kathy had her
purse. Great way to start Mother’s Day!
After a
quick stop back Home to get my wallet
we were on our way to Amherstburg where
we had a number of stops to make. The first stop was at the Home Hardware Building Center where we purchased
a bag of Perma Sand (Silicon Sand) to be used to fill between the patio
stones to stop weeds from growing between as well as locking the stones
together.
Our next
stop was at Kevin and Melissa’s where
I returned the hand tamper and got a chance to wish Melissa Happy Mother’s Day.
Kathy
wanted another Potted Flower to display near the shed so we made a stop at Walmart where we were able to get another
large Mushroom stool as a display table and a Fairy but not the plant.
Getting gardening supplies at Canadian Tire this morning. In immaculate condition. Whitewalls and all. |
Since we
were across the street we drove over to Canadian
Tire where we managed to find a beautiful plant to go with our décor
but no water tray for the pot.
Slowly working the Perma Sand into the patio extension. |
Across the
street and down the block we went to the Dollar
Store where we found a few other things along with the tray before
heading Home.
The finished product with everything in place. Firewood rack behind the shed. Privacy Shrubs to the rear. Outdoor kitchen on the right. |
As soon
as she was in the door Kathy started getting lunch ready while I unloaded the
car started getting the few tools I’d need to complete the task. Kathy had some
nice warm soup and grilled cheese sandwiches to take the chill out of our
bodies for lunch.
The bag
of Perma Sand we had bought was grey in colour with a newly designed bag
with a spout-like fold in the top that would make it easier to spread. No
matter what I did the only thing that made it work was to cut the spout out of
the bag. I have worked with the white Silicon Sand before and found the
consistency to be much better with all fine type sand. This grey coloured was
nearly the consistency of fresh water beach sand which made it harder to finish
the job.

In the
end the patio extension is a big success because I’ll no longer be tracking mud
inside the trailer. I’ll be able to go to the outside kitchen or the firewood
rack without being in the mud and it made it easier to balance the potted tree
privacy curtain at the rear of the patio.

Kathy fixed
a nice Acorn Squash for supper to go with the two steaks that I grilled on our
Weber. We were just finishing eating when our daughter Karen called to wish her
mom, Kathy a Happy Mother’s Day.
Nice clean patio. |
Kathy and
I hope all our female readers had a Happy Mother’s Day doing what they liked
the best. Thanks for
following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!
