Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario,
Canada.
After staying at the Happy New Year Party at the park clubhouse until 11:00 last night and just squeezing the last part of
the post out by the stroke of midnight it didn’t take long for us to fall
asleep. The problem was staying asleep. After our meal had been served last evening
we were each given a cup of coffee. Kathy only needed a sip to know that it was
not decaffeinated so she passed it on to me which meant I had two cups of
caffeinated coffee after 8:00 in the evening. At one point in my life you
always saw me with a cup of coffee in my hand and if I was having trouble
sleeping I’d have a coffee and fall right to sleep. By 2:00 this morning I was
tossing and turning and unable to fall back to sleep. After taking an
extra-strength Tylenol and reading on the computer I was finally able to get
back to bed by 5:00 this morning. Is it any wonder that we slept until 9:00
?
We were able to shut the AC before going
to bed last night and felt quite comfortable leaving the windows shut for the
night. The first thing we did was to open the windows when we got up and there was
a pleasant cross breeze to keep us cool. We made a list of things we’ll be
needing to do tomorrow before having lunch. After eating the temperature was
starting to get warm when I went outside to dump our waste tanks and water the
flowers and grass that we planted but the wind still kept it comfortable.
We had a dinner engagement this
afternoon and having seen the radar screen on The Weather Network showing a possible shower heading our way
before leaving we closed all the sliding windows in the trailer and slightly
lowered the flip-outs.
We arrived at Gerry and Sandy’s home in Amherstburg for 3:00 where we sat in the
coolness of their Air Conditioned home catching up from where we left off two
weeks ago when we last met. We were telling Gerry of what we learned from the
retired MTO officer at the party
last night about not having to get our vehicles Safety Checked every year. Even
his truck has a commercial license plate on it so they are in the same boat as
we are. If we can get the standard private vehicle plates for our trucks, we
would also be able to get a two-year license tag which we can’t at this time.
Around 5:00 Gerry looked outside and the
clear blue sky was filled with big black clouds. Since he had invited us for a
barbecue he made a dash to get things started on his grill. In the short time
he took to start cooking the hotdogs and hamburgers he was slightly damp before
he got back inside. The rain would come and go for the next half hour but it
was never more than what a spring rain should be like. The barbecue turned into
an indoor picnic with salads and garnishes. Everything tasted wonderful and the
conversation never stopped as it never does amongst good friends.
The last time we were together I had
reminded them about adding time to and upgrading their TracFones. After calling to have his phone mailed to a Michigan address
Gerry remember I didn’t have a US address to have our phone sent to. He then
offered to pick it up the next time he went to Michigan So I had our TracFone mailed to the same address.
This past week he picked up his and our TracFones
which will save Kathy and I a lot of problems the next time we head south in
the fall. I’m sure that I’ll find a way to repay him. Thanks Gerry and Sandy
for the wonderful meal and the favour.
By the time we headed for Home the skies had cleared and the sun was shining. We had to
turn on the AC because it was warmer
in the trailer then when we left this afternoon. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe
and Enjoy!
It’s about time.
