A Wasted Day With A Celebration.

Our Location today is McGregor, Ontario, Canada.

Trying the new CPAP Mask again last night proved to be fruitless. Once again the mask leaked and was more than enough cause for me to spend most of the night awake. We did sleep past 8:00 this morning and sat during breakfast making plans for what we wanted to do today even going to the extent of making our usual list. Next we went to the computers only to be shown a message that we were Not connected to the Internet”. After rebooting our computers with no positive results I called our Cable/Internet provider to report the issue only to connect directly to a voice mail.

We figured that we’d accomplish what we could do and delay our errands. Yesterday I had power washed the picnic table and patio in an attempt to clean them up. Once those materials get wet it is very difficult to see what is still dirty. My first chore this morning was to again clean them both one more time. Even though it was cool outside the sun was out and in the time it took to wrap up the power washer Kathy said she could already see a big improvement in both.

We still had plans to run our errands so Kathy suggested an early lunch. After eating Kathy wanted to double check any online banking we should be made aware of. Again the computers showed “No Internet” connection. Another call to the provider got Chris on the phone. He asked more questions about the modem, router and cable connection at the post. After doing an online check of the park he determined there was a problem in the underground cable leading to our post and the park technician should be around within a couple of hours.

There went our plans to get what we wanted to down the drain. Kathy finally tired of playing a game on her computer and went to watch television. It didn’t dawn on me right away but the television was working just fine and it was connected to the same cable. Another call was made to Chris at Cable 1 to tell him this finding. Again he insisted it was a problem between the post and their signal booster and the tech would be here closer to 5:00 due to a delay. What is it with these companies they want you there but don’t keep their appointments figuring we are retired and have all the time in the world. Wrong!

Just before 3:00 it started raining quite hard and had not slowed down since. We did not see the tech until 6:00 when we were getting ready to leave for our weekly visit with our son Kevin and daughter-in-law Melissa in Amherstburg. In the five minutes of time it took to get my shoes and raincoat on before going outside Glen the tech had nearly finished running a completely new coaxial cable from the signal post two sites over to our pole. Now I understood why it would be so easy for someone to cut a cable because they are only about two inches under the surface of the grass. Once everything was reconnected it only took a couple minutes for the computers to connect online.
Kathy had called to tell the kids of our delay so when we arrived just before 7:00 Melissa had a small feast in celebration of both our birthdays set up when we got there. We had our usual fun time visiting and I returned the power washer. “Thanks for the celebration Kevin and Melissa!”

Hopefully when we get back Home our internet connection will have been reestablished even though the rain hasn’t stopped. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!
