Rebuilt and Ready.

Our Location today is Punta Gorda, Florida, USA.

We both managed to have a decent night’s sleep last night and slept until 8:00 this morning. When we sat down to enjoy our breakfast all traces of the sun disappeared and moments later we started hearing the sound of rain hitting on the roof. Being in the final stages of our project we took the time to do our morning reading. I looked at my E-mails seeing if any of our expected packages would be arriving today and was surprised to see that one was slated for delivery today.
Beveling material using a Wood-Chisel.
Once I started back on assembling the closet nook I noted that the material I had reclaimed as a backing strip would possibly not hold the panel the way it should. Instead of continuing the way I had I removed the piece and cut a new one out of wider material. Once it was cut to length I then had to bevel an edge the entire length. Since I had attempted to keep noise to a minimum it required that I used the wood chisel to create the desired effect.
Straightened the nook making it wider and higher.
After having our lunch and I was in the final stages of sub-assembly on the picnic table when Kathy with the use of the umbrella went to the office to look for our mail. I was about to go inside to make the installation when she returned with our package from Camping World but not the one we had been tracking. It apparently had not been delivered yet.

The rain stopped long enough to get the compressor from the truck to fasten the trim. When I had that completed I didn’t waste time to return it to its storage cabinet in the truck before starting on the shelving. We had purchase a readymade shelf that with some minor modifications would work perfectly for what Kathy needed. I managed to get the notching for the clothes bar done on both vertical members just as Kathy called me to supper and the thunderstorm began.
Measuring panel on sofa where to modify.
By the time we’d finished eating the storm was over but the rain continued coming down and has yet to stop. Luckily we had opened the awning the other day so putting the open box on the picnic table I was able to cut a full panel of plywood for the rear of Kathy’s shelf. After fastening the shelf in place and being certain it wasn’t going to move when we travel Kathy immediately started reorganizing her closet until she wore herself out for the night. By redesigning the closet nook it is now fourteen inches wider and goes straight up to the seem rather than having an overhang giving it six more inches in height and more space for those awkward appliances like our vacuum cleaner.
Shoes under, shirts on and oddities behind shelf.
I just rechecked the tracking status on our parcel and found out it was delivered to the office just before it closed at 5:00 this evening. Tomorrow I’ll reorganize my tools while Kathy puts the finishing touches on the closet before we return a few unused materials to Home Depot. Then we should be able to do some exploring at one of the local attractions. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

  2. Nice job Rick...nothing like having enough storage. No rain here in AZ....just sun and blue skies.
