Our Location today is Punta Gorda, Florida, USA.
Even after having a restless night of sleep I was still up
reading at the computer by 7:30 this morning. Kathy on the other hand has been
overworking herself the last few days so she slept until shortly after 8:00. After breakfast we both returned to the
computers getting caught up on posts from bloggers who had been recently absent
and were playing a game of catch up.
Of course all good things must come to an end just as
routine chores that need to be done. After blog reading I changed the bed
linens while Kathy changed the bath towels. Yes today would be the chore of
doing the laundry. Once everything was sorted and loaded into the truck we
headed towards Punta Gorda.
We’d no sooner entered the city limits when we realized that
it was nearly 12:00 and since it would take at least a couple of hours to do
the laundry we should eat lunch first. Looking for someplace to eat we caught
sight of a Golden Corral sign. Since we hadn’t been there so far this winter we
headed in. With the seniors discount it made it well worth our while but unlike
past visits we limited our number of plates we each consumed and we made
certain to start with a healthy salad for our first serving. When we left we
could still walk comfortably and did not feel stuffed but we also knew we’d be
able to get through the laundry without being hungry.
The last time we went looking for a laundromat Kathy had
entered three different business locations into the GPS and fortunately we
found one at the first location. Today she hit the first location that popped
up on the screen and as soon as it had us crossing the Charlotte Harbor I knew
this wasn’t the same place. The address brought us to a truck mechanics shop
not a laundromat. Remember how I said in the past lots of businesses close up
but never take the Web Pages off the internet well this was another one of
those businesses. She entered the next address that brought us to an empty lot.
That must have been a business in the planning stages. Finally she found the
third location that she listed and within five minutes we were at last week’s
location. While I was busy doing the laundry Kathy cleaned the GPS of addresses
that she knew to be useless.
It was past 3:00 by the time I had finished and even though I’d
been drinking water it wasn’t enough. We stopped at Dunkin Donuts where Kathy had
an Unsweetened Iced Tea and I had a black Coffee to go.
A quick stop at True Value Hardware proved disappointing for
the first time since we’d been stopping there. Not only did they not have any
of the product I needed in stock neither did their warehouse. They have our
phone number and if they get anything in before we head to the Keys on the
first of March we’ll get them.
We stopped at Walmart where we looked for a number of things
but only walked out with groceries.
We’d forgotten to stop at the local Publix Grocery store to
refill our drinking water containers. Imagine the surprise when after
dispensing only one gallon of water the machine said it was out. Inquiring at
the service desk I was told that so many people were filling water jugs today
that the machine couldn’t produce enough fresh water to keep up. Their suggestion
was to return when the store opens at 7:00 in the morning and the machine will
have refilled itself overnight.
Back at the trailer after bringing the groceries and laundry
in I fired up the Weber Q to warm it up. Kathy was busy putting away the groceries
while I put away the clothes. I then lowered the temperature on the Weber
before placing a medium Supreme pizza we bought at Walmart’s Deli Counter.
After ten minutes it was done perfectly.
Not sure what we’ll be up to tomorrow so stay tuned. Thanks
for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!
It’s about time.

Poverty
is no disgrace, but it's a great inconvenience.
Why not take one jug at a time when it is empty to refill when you are out and about? Thats what we do.
ReplyDeleteYou should have taken a picture of the pizza!
ReplyDeleteI tried pizza on the grill once, and it was a total failure! But, our grill has lots of hot and cold spots, so that's probably why . . . certainly not the fault of the cook!
