Running Around in Colder Weather and Meeting Fellow Ontarians.

Our Location today is Punta Gorda, Florida, USA.

Once again I was up reading at my computer before 7:00 and Kathy slept until nearly 8:30 but she was feeling much more refreshed when she got up this morning. We had our normal breakfast and while I made the bed Kathy took the time to get caught up on her computer reading. Today’s temperature would reach a high of 64 F (18 C) but with the 15 mph north wind and high humidity it would feel cool enough to wear a jacket all day.

Making certain to bring Kathy’s bicycle seat for the Tandem Bike we were on the road by 10:00 heading back to Punta Gorda to the Bicycle shop. They very apologetically fixed our bill and had no problem accepting our return. We still had the problem of finding a seat cover for Kathy’s seat but even though they had quite a selection none of the covers fit the seat properly. Finally I suggested Kathy try a different seat altogether. The first one was too hard the second one too narrow but the third one was a perfect fit.

On our return to the trailer we stopped at True Value Hardware where I hoped I could purchase some Metric wingnuts for our bicycle mirrors. When we travel I always turn the mirrors on the bicycles down before covering them up on the rear of the trailer. I’m hoping that using a wingnut will make the process quicker and easier. The mirrors for our old bikes wasn’t a problem but the new mirror for the Tandem Bike was an odd size they just didn’t carry. We tried stopping at Home Depot and they suggested NAPA and Advanced Auto Parts but nobody had anything of the sort. One even suggested Fastenal in Port Charlotte but we weren’t going there today and it was already past 12:00 so it was time to eat.

When we had been to the Bicycle Shop I’d notice a small restaurant called Elena’s in the corner of the plaza. The saying is if the parking lot is full you know the food must be good. Well we just thought the plaza was busy until we walked in. The place was packed with people standing outside waiting for a table, We were lucky enough to only wait fifteen minutes for a table but the service was fast, the food was hot, tasty and reasonably priced.

On our way back to the trailer we did stop at Radio Shack where we purchased a new set of Walkie Talkies since our old ones decided they didn’t want to work anymore.

Back at the trailer the first thing I did was go online and find the location and phone number for Fastenal in Port Charlotte while Kathy did her budget entries. When I spoke to Larry at Fastenal after checking his computer he reported to me that they didn’t carry that size bolts or nuts let alone wingnuts in that size. I headed back outside replacing the mirrors on all the bicycles, installing Kathy’s new seat on the Tandem Bike and installing a new bumper hatch cover for the sewer hoses on the trailer.

With today’s chores finished and the fact that it was 4:00 I invited Kathy to go for bike ride around the park. She totally fell in love with her new seat. While we were going through the overflow section of the park I noticed a name plate in front of a Casita that said they were from Welland Ontario. We stopped to talk for close to half an hour with Bob and Joanne exchanging information and making plans to get together before we leave the park next weekend.

Since we ate out for lunch we had a lite supper. Tomorrow we have no plans so that means something is bound to pop up. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!

It’s about time.

Krackers

Angry mother: Why did you put this frog in your sister's bed?

Sally: Because I couldn't find a mouse.
