Challenging Errands and Chores.

Our Location today is Punta Gorda, Florida, USA.

With the more moderate temperatures we had last night I slept fairly soundly and was able to be wide awake and reading at the computer by 7:00 this morning. Kathy had exactly the opposite type of night tossing and turning making it so she was still feeling tired when she got up just before 8:30. Once we’d eaten breakfast she got caught up on her reading while I made up the bed and got ready for us to head out the door.

Getting on the road heading towards Punta Gorda the wind started picking up and was hitting the side of the truck with enough force I needed to use both hands on the steering wheel. Normally I only need to do that when we are transporting the trailer.

After all the running around we’d done yesterday we would have preferred a stay at home day but with Murphy making it so that the water dispensing machine was empty we needed to head back. Because this RV Park doesn’t have their own machine and we use this water for drinking and cooking we use on average of two gallons a day. So as not to have the same problem today our very first stop was at the Publix Grocery store. Kathy chose to walk around the store while I filled our containers and returned them to the truck. She still managed to find a few special treats that we hadn’t picked up yesterday.

Our next stop was a small strip mall we’d seen yesterday north of the Golden Corral Restaurant on highway 41 that had a bicycle shop called Bicycle. We needed to purchase a slip on cover for the saddle seat that Kathy uses on the Tandem Bike. I’d planned on bringing the seat with us this morning but in our hurry to leave I’d forgotten it. They had quite an assortment to try so we chose the one that we thought would fit the best. I also spotted that they had folding pedals. Since our Tandem Bike folds so do the pedals. On our old bicycles we have standard pedals that are getting beat up on the bicycle carrier on the rear of the trailer. By replacing those pedals I’m hoping to see less damage on the bicycles.

The other day Kathy noticed she needed to repair the hems on some of her clothes and there was a slight hole in a new pair of jeans. Unfortunately she didn’t have what she needed to make that repair with and thought JoAnn Fabrics would surely have something. So we drove from Punta Gorda back to North Fort Myers to JoAnn’s. Within a short time Kathy was going through a very large assortment of products that would help solve her problem.

It was now past 12:30 and we were getting hungry so we stopped in at Popeye’s for lunch. It has been a couple of years since we stopped at one of their locations and I had a taste for their chicken. We both ordered the two piece combos hers regular and mine spicy with different sides. The last time I’d ordered a three piece meal there I had difficulty finishing it. It was as tasty as we remembered and was more than filling.

I’d recently read another blog about getting stackable organizer cases for the varied fasteners we sometimes carry with us. I have a two side organizer but recently found that the side kept facing down was gathering moisture which caused corrosion to some of the fasteners. Since Popeye’s was in the same parking lot as the Home Depot we drove over to investigate what they had. Kathy and I looked at the different cases they had considering the pros and cons of each one. Finally I chose the Stanley brand as the most favorable brand in that store.

Back at the trailer we found branches from the Palm trees either side of our trailer had been blown down missing our trailer. The wind had blown so hard that our Sunshade had pulled all the tent stakes holding it down out of the ground. Our neighbor brought back our Clothes Pin Bag that the wind had blown off our bumper mounted clothes line over to his sight. Once I’d brought our purchases including the water jugs into the trailer Kathy made us a light snack before I started doing some chores.

The latch on our water jug cart had somehow bent so within a few minutes I had that repaired. Next I found a way to resolve a tightening issue on our awning. When I went to install the bicycle seat cover we’d purchased for Kathy this morning and found it to be too large. When Kathy found the receipt she also found we’d been double charged for the seat cover. While she called them to explain the problem I installed the folding pedals on our old bicycles.

It was nearing 4:00 so we decided to go for a single ride around the park before coming home to make supper. We’re expecting a slightly cooler night with rain tonight but nearly freezing tomorrow night. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!
