Up and Down Day.

Our Location today is Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada.

I was absolutely right in last night’s post about sleeping soundly in fact I even slept in until after 8:30 this morning. Kathy slept in until after I got up but unfortunately she had been wide awake until after 2:00 in the morning. After we talked about it at breakfast we figured it was the diet pop she had with supper it was not caffeine free and that is what led to her sleeplessness.

Kathy stayed home this morning getting things ready for our trip while I went for an appointment with my Optometrist. The appointment went fine but he did note the start of a cataract in my right eye but it’s not serious at this time. Considering what my career was he said I’m very lucky.

I stopped at the Credit Union on my way home to do some banking. By the time I was walking in the door of the apartment Kathy was already finishing making lunch. She had been busy cleaning the fridge and recreating some of the food there so that nothing will go to waste before we leave for Indiana on Friday.

After lunch I stripped the bed and gathered the rest of the laundry for the last time before we leave. As soon as I got downstairs I used the terminal to add cash to our laundry card but didn’t look at the receipt. Next I loaded up three washers then added the liquid detergent in before starting them up. The first machine started immediately but the next two would not. The printout on the machines said the card was empty. Checking the receipt for the first time showed that the transaction failed. Having just gone to the Credit Union I knew that it was a problem with the terminal.

When I reported the problem to Lynn the manager she tried resetting the terminal a couple of times unsuccessfully. Since I had put the liquid detergent in to the machines she loaned me her card so I could complete my wash. Once all our wash was finished I simply hauled it back to the apartment where we got ready to go to a nearby Laundromat to dry it.

Since this was Wednesday May 7th we knew we’d be eating out for a good cause. Once we had finished drying our clothes we drove around the corner to McDonald’s for supper. Proceeds on the sale of certain foods today goes in support of the Ronald McDonald House. These are places where parents get to stay when they must travel out of town for treatment for their children at Sick Children’s Hospitals. So by simply buying our supper we were able to support a worthwhile cause as well.

Afterwards we drove out to Amherstburg for our weekly Wednesday Evening visit with our son Kevin and daughter-in-law Melissa. As always we had an enjoyable visit that we all look forward to every week when we are home. This visit will have to hold us over for two weeks now because we’ll be at the 54th Escapade in Indiana next week.

While I started writing this post Kathy was busy putting our clean clothes away. Now I have to go remake our bed so we can hopefully both get a good night’s sleep tonight. Thanks for following along and feel free to leave a comment. Be Safe and Enjoy!
