As
soon as Sorough came in this morning, he handed Mile a Doctor’s
Note,
from the Clinic
he attended on Monday.
It confirmed that he did not have Covid
but a Severe
Stomach Flu.
Though
he is physically fit, like other young men his age, he likes to eat.
The Doctor
recommended Soup
for the next Three
Days
and to avoid hard foods. He was starving by the end of the day.
We started the day with him doing a few Touch-Ups using the TIG and Mile was impressed. Not having other work I powered up the PTA Control Pod. With a couple of completed Blueprints in hand, I had Sorough entering the Control Numbers on the Spreadsheet as if we were about to weld those Units. This also gave him the chance to ask me questions about things he was not certain of.
Around 9:00 a Contractor arrived to rebuild the exterior wall by the PTA. If you recall the Brakes Failed on the Old Truck, that left a Five-by-Five opening. Bob started on the outside, cleaning the broken blocks while still leaving the Plywood on the inside. Once he had put New Concrete Blocks to fill the void he came inside to finish the process from our side of the wall. In the New Year, once the wall is painted, all signs of the mishap will be hidden away.
Just after first break Mile asked that I help Flame Harden the Bearing Area on an Eight Inch Feedscrew. Because of the length of the Bearing, we needed to use Two Oxy-Actelyene Rosebud Torches to heat a Three Inch wide strip at a time. When it reached Twelve Hundred Degrees, it would be quenched to harden the strip, before repeating the process on the next Three Inch strip. We worked through our lunch to complete the process.
I called Kathy later than normal and found out our Hair Stylist Julia was sick and needed to reschedule our appointment for next week.
A couple of deliveries were made that had to be checked out. We produce the Feedscrews, but the Spline Collars are made by another supplier. Our measurements were exact, but will have to be shaved to accommodate the Overly Tight Collar. Pictures were taken and sent to the Customer, who agreed to the additional work.
While all that excitement was going on, a last minute touch-up was needed on a Feedscrew that was already chromed and was hours away from being shipped to the Customer. Sorough didn’t think he could do it without hitting the chrome, so Mile asked that I do it. With only Nine Days remaining, he better practice, really hard.
It felt wonderful holding Kathy when I got home. I’m looking forward to a lot more of that.
