My World Turned Upside Down.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

You’ve seen me write about things that we Planned to do during the day often not working out. How many of us Plan something overnight? The answer is we all do. Most of us simply Plan to have a good night’s sleep, and lately I’m the one that has been struggling doing just that. Unfortunately, I was hoping to say that my wish had finally come true last night. Instead, I fell soundly asleep in my Recliner and was shocked when I woke up and saw how late it was. That’s when “My world turned upside down”.

I’ve mentioned before how many years ago, I had a Workplace Injury that resulted in a Vertigo (Inner Ear Imbalance) Issue. It was and is impossible to lay down afterwards, without the room spinning. Returning to work after Six Weeks, the Company Doctor grounded me to the Welding Bench, no climbing or crawling inside machines. It was another Three Months before I was allowed back to full duty. Back then, the only way to treat the problem, was to let nature run its course. Strangely, the problem never recurred until after I retired. Fortunately, by that time there were Medications that helped to shorten the time of recovery. I have since needed to use the Medications that were issued years ago, but still work, numerous times.

When I went to go to Bed, as soon as I stood from my Recliner, I nearly did a Face Plant. Though I was able to avoid that, it was so sudden that I could not believe what was happening. Even on my Hands and Knees, the room was spinning, heaving and swinging uncontrollably. I finally was able to crawl across the room and reach the Pills and prayed for relief. Knowing that going to Bed would be disastrous, I crawled back to my Recliner.

I later watched as Kathy emerged from the Bedroom, seeing me sitting there, unaware of what I had gone through. Throughout the day, I continued facing a loss of balance. With every meal a supplement of the magic Medication was taken. This evening, I am still using my Cane for balance, but my head is not spinning like early this morning.

According to the Local Weather Guessers, our area only reached a high of 23 F (-5 C) today, with Winds Gusting up to 50 MPH (80 KLM), just like yesterday, making it feel even colder. Since I was in no mood to go outside, I didn’t feel like I had missed out on anything.

Another advantage of staying inside today, was we were able to make a dent in the number of Leftovers we had built up in our Fridge.

We’ll be staying close to home tomorrow night, so Kathy and I would like to wish all our Family, Friends and Followers a Safe and Happy New Years Eve. If you plan on going out to enjoy a few Drinks, please don’t Drive.
