Check In and Pile Up.

Our Location today is Windsor, Ontario.

Though I started in Bed and ended in Bed, I had to spend a short while in my Recliner last night, simply to ease the pressure and Pain in my Neck and Shoulders.

When the outside temperature feels like 5 F (-15 C) after sunrise, you are in no rush to go outside. I had nearly finished my morning reading when Kathy came out to join me, at which time we started getting Northwest Wind Gusts above Thirty MPH. We took our time having Cereal for breakfast, before bringing our Coffees to our Computers.

Since we were expecting a Knock on the door, any time after 10:00 we didn’t have time to lounge around. Yesterday, when we returned from Dyna Care in Tecumseh, we found a Twenty-Four Hour Notice at our door. This is something that Landlords or their Agents, by Law are supposed to give Tenants any time they might be entering your Apartment. After everyone’s Complaints about the cold air leaking through the Windows, the Windsor Board of Health, has ordered the Management Company located in Toronto (250 Miles Away), to replace old Windows and Balcony Doors that are no longer protecting the Tenants.

We had just finished eating Italian Wedding Soup as a way to warm up for lunch, when the Knock on the door finally came. John, the Building Maintenance Man was there with the Board of Health Agent with his clipboard. As soon as John saw me, he remembered how bad our Windows were, but had to ask how new our Balcony Door was. When I asked about not being able to control our own Heat, the Board of Health Agent said “That will be fixed tomorrow”. That means we won’t have to wear our Jackets to stay warm in the Apartment anymore. They never even came inside.

It was only minutes later that we headed out the door. Since Cold Wind affects Kathy’s breathing due to her Heart Condition, I insisted she wait inside while I retrieved the Car.

Also yesterday, Kathy had received a call from Vital-Aire telling her our CPAP Supplies were in. Thinking of saving time, we took the Expressway across the City. Unfortunately, we didn’t save any time. As soon as we exited onto Dougall Avenue, traffic was at a crawl and we didn’t know why. As we turned the corner, we could see the Red and Blue Flashing Lights. We might have move Hundred Feet when City Trucks with their Amber Lights flashing, blocked the road behind us and detouring the traffic. Another Two Hundred Feet up the road, the Police were turning us back in the direction we had just came from. We could not see a thing because of all the Emergency Vehicles. After a One Hour Three Mile Detour, we finally made it to Vital-Air, only Five Hundred Feet on the other side of the spot we had been turned around at.

With our supplies in hand, we headed in the opposite direction to avoid the mess. At the very first Traffic Light, an Ambulance and Two Deck Trucks, each hauling two accordion shaped vehicles went by. Looking back down the road, we could still see more clean up happening. That delay put us in the middle of Rush-Hour Traffic, but we never hit a single Red Traffic Light crossing the City.

We stopped at Burger King to take advantage of their Whopper Wednesday Deals for supper. Their Drive-Thru was backed out onto the street and trying to find a parking spot in their lot was Chaos, but inside the line stretched around the Dining Room. Kathy was getting tired, so I has her sit at an empty table for the Forty Minutes it took for me to Order our food. By the time I filled our fountain drinks our order was ready. Just as I sat down to eat, things started turning White outside.

It was past 5:00 before we got to Bulk Barn to take advantage of their Wednesday Seniors Discount Day.

After dropping Kathy at the front entrance and parking the Car, it was only minutes before the “6 o’clock News” came on. You might have noticed that I didn’t say “Local” because they were having problems in Windsor, so our News was being broadcasted from London (100 Miles Away).

After taking our evening Medications, we watched a few episodes of “Mayday” before calling it a night.

We have to get up early tomorrow, so we can get control to our Heat again.
